github renders it as text/plain by default, so to open it in HTML mode you need to switch it in the browser, with Firefox you can install the "Open in browser" plugin:

Which makes it possible to select View->View As->Web page and it's shown as it was previously with subversion.
If you were looking for the commit history, the RSS flow is probably the best one:

It's all a bit of a mess isn't it!
The versioning with SVN was easy to understand. For most users with git it's just gibberish!
Not an advance to say the least!!!
