All builds this new weird numeration ?

I install whatever it's called but would not rpm or yum ( Linux package managers ) get very confused ?
Regarding revisions making me force installs ?

    I ask again.

How do release numbers correspond to changes in github?

They no longer do directly: git's hex value to define a revision didn't
work with some of our mechanism about identifying newer/older revisions,
as it's not an increasing value, but a hash. Thus we needed to replace the
rev hash with something which we knew would grow over time. Such as a time
    stamp :-).

    Any concern to me?

Should this change in release number be of any concern to non-techies like myself. Should I continue to update nightlies as always? Thank you.

No. It's really just a different way to distinguish revisions. With svn
every checkin would increase the number by 1. Git doesn't provide revision
numbers, but hashes. Therefore we use the timestamp of the last change as
    the "revision number".

Yes. Give them a try. There _might_ be issues, as moving to git lead to
    some re-arranging of the repositories.

    Upgraded just fine ?

So the rpm build is functional .

But where is a humanly readable change log ? Like the one we had before with version numbers and links to the changed stuff ? Like the viewVC repository listing ?
