I don't like to have PC / server running while I'm sleeping or not at home ... ;-)

But back to my first question of all:
Can anyone tell if there is any work at LMS right now?

No more updates, no more solved bugs, no more ... or at least only a few statements from mherger... worrying if I should change the system/software...

Do you get feedback on daily basis from all other companies you buy products from and consider changing to something else if you don't know what they are doing for a few weeks or even months ?

What about the manufacturer of your car ? tv ? amplifier ? phone ? computer ? operating system ?

Yes, I know we have been spoiled previously with really detailed information about what happens internally within Logitech, but even at the current level they aren't really worse than anybody else.

I would love to get more information, but I can can also see a lot of reasons why Logitech doesn't have any interest to tell everyone what they are working on internally.

When I think back, I think the public source code repository has been fairly quiet previously when Logitech has been working on new hardware, mainly because they have been working on internal branches not visible to the public until the product was ready to be released. Of course, there is no way to know if they are working on anything new, I'm just saying that if they were, the symptoms would probably be similar to what we see at the moment, especially at the early phase when they need to get the new stuff up and running and don't need any feedback from beta testers.

The thing is the public source code hasn't even been quiet. Things are being committed and changed every few days.

We have been repeatedly told Logitech regard Squeezebox as an important product to them.
    They are hiring more staff.
Major major changes like svn to git have happened.

All while having several hints given that something important is in the pipe to be released soon. Some of us think that a new piece of hardware is coming sooner rather than later.

All things point to good news for Squeezebox product line.

erland, You're right - the only thing is, until a few weeks ago there have been updates every day - and it's been a big thing, if there were no changes for 2 or 3 days (most recently when mherger was on vacation).
So I started wondering, when there wasn't a break only for 2 or 3 days bur for 2 or 3 weeks.
Additionally at a point where 7.8 is ... "not very usable" (regarding the "update" thing...)

    I'll have to wait ;-)
