Hi,
I'm a "little" worried when - or even IF - things go on with LMS.
I don't see any work / nightlies for one week - although the current nightly has some very ugly bugs (eg. adding files to an existing folder/album deletes cover art - this is definitely a new bug and very disgusting, eg if You're adding Bonus Tracks to an album) - and I even don't see any posts here...
Something's going wrong?
Last thing I remember is mherger telling us they're even looking for new engineers/programmers ...
Help! :-)
I like LMS very much and I'm still hoping for a good "working" new version..
Thanks!

Any idea which nightly introduce this issue? Or which one was the last
which was working fine for you?

Not quite sure, Michael, I think it happened some weeks ago, might be 33930 oder 33932 - I'll try to test with an old copy when I do my next update.
Description:
Before: MP3 files of one album in one folder - embedded artwork and folder.jpg in folder => artwork is shown
Change:
Adding some tracks to the folder (with the same artwork embedded as the other ones, folder.jpg stays unchanged) - only change made to the existing tracks, is changing the track-tag from (eg. 01/10, 02/10... to 01/14, 02/14).
All other tags are the same (album, albumartist ...)
Result:
The "old" tracks are shown with the default grey "cover art work symbol",
the "new" tracks are shown as a separate album (with the same name) and the correct cover art...

Just tested with 7.8.0 - r33930
This contains already "half of the bug":
1. Browsing for "New music" ( http://127.0.0.1:9000/clixmlbrowser/...=&index=&sess= ) shows the whole album "in one part" and with cover art correctly
BUT
2. If You "click" on the album, browsing to => http://127.0.0.1:9000/clixmlbrowser/...&player=&sess= <=
the cover art is lost (default cover art is shown)
BUT BUT
3. If You click e.g. on the first track => http://127.0.0.1:9000/clixmlbrowser/...&player=&sess= <=
it is shown WITH correct cover art again...
Thanks for caring for this!

Thoughts .
You are aware of that embedded art have precedence over cover.jpg so as long as there is an embedded art tag it wins it does not matter if you have a file .
I would make a tag change on all album files ( new an old ) so that they get the same time stamp .
I would make sure that there is no difference In tagging re new vs old files , using mp3tag or puddle tag .
Make sure that I embed the same art in all files ( with the exception of albums with track art, LMS handles track art very buggy , but that is another bug )
Or you sure this a new behaviour , it is very similar to the many other scenarios where you end up with double albums after a tag change and " scan for new and changed " .
This usually fixes itself after a " clear and rescan ".
I would say that " fixing " existing albums pretty much always gives you weird entries in LMS like double albums .
Quite surprised that you have not seen this before ?
But it is a good one as you found a bug where new and old file separate in two albums in some sort of predicable and reproducible manner, maybe it helps Michael to analyse this .
If they are still giving you separate albums/no artwork after a "clear and rescan" I would suspect the tagging.
If this is only a problem after an incremental scan , I would say it is LMS not entirely predictable " new and changed " scan.
"New" is mostly ok ,the " changed " part is somewhat random .--------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks for Your thoughts, but I'm very sure it's a new behaviour. I'm working in the music industry as a professional so I quite often get re-editions of albums and have to add bonus tracks.
Of course I double checked all tags - they are the same for the whole album. And the folder.jpg is the same as the embedded so it wouldn't mind which one is shown - but it actually shows none.
And after a clean re-scan everything is fine again, all covers are shown (till the next change) so I'm pretty sure "my" tags are fine... ;-)

When I add tracks to an existing album or change a filename of an album with my 7.7.3 LMS and issue a rescan, two new albums get added with the same name as the previously existing album. On album contains the new/changed tracks and the other album contains the unchanged tracks.
This behaviour does not seem to be restricted to 7.8 beta.1750 Alben mit 21559 Titel von 1706 Interpreten.
