    SlimNAS/LMS - transcoding 24/96 FLAC

When playing a 24/96 or 24/88 FLAC file to my receiver or Radio the more info reports that it is being coverted to 320kbps CBR MP3. I knew that neither SB can play >24/48 natively but thought that they would be transcoded to 24/48 or 24/44. Am I missing a plugin to enable this?

Do you have SoX and FLAC ?

Try to use normal settings in file types " file types " I think oddball settings here can trip up transcoding ?

Does SOX need to be installed separately? If so I don't then no. Where do you get it and how do you instal it?
Not sure what you mean by file type settings but for FLAC it is just set to native.

SOX should be installed by LMS and yes it is the application needed for the transcoding , it should be in the same folder as the other helper apps as FLAC etc .

FLAC = native , is as it should be what are the other entries in the FLAC category ?

I'm pretty sure that all file formats are as default. Where do I get SOX from and how do you instal it?

          Thanks for the help!

Try to find a FreeBSD 7.3 compatible binary and put it inside the LMS' Bin
            folder.

Heh... I just checked again: sox is part of SlimNAS already.

If you ssh in to your FreeNAS box and run "sox" from the command line,
              what would you get?

Sorry Michael but what do I need to type exactly? If I just type 'sox' and hit execute nothing happens.
In the SlimNAS bin folder is another called i386-FreeBSD-64int and within that I can find:

                Faad
                FLAC
                Mac
                Sls
                Wvunpack

                But no sox?

                Thanks

Can anyone help with where to get a BSD compatible version of SOX please?
Google is not throwing up anything remotely helpful.

                  Thanks

Michael, do you by chance have a copy of SOX that was included in the previous SlimNAS build please?

                    Thanks
