    that will work just fine.

please do post on readynas forums. I'm not sure the current condition, but I know in the recent past the official instructions provided by netgear on this were WRONG in several ways (running the clean function no longer needed, etc.). A logitech developer posted here how they had tried to get netgear to update/fix instructions without luck.

    Success!

All files copied from an external drive to the NAS overnight, using FastCopy. Took about 5 hours (approx. 12,000 files). Then the LMS scan to establish the library took only about an hour and a half, maybe less. Although I haven't tested extensively yet, it also seems that scrolling through artists, songs, etc. on the SBT is just as fast as it was when using LMS on my XP laptop or Vista desktop. I haven't tried the Duet yet.

The whole process went smoothly, although it really wasn't that intuitive (to me, anyway). For one thing, just figuring out how to get LMS to scan (you have to log into mysqueezebox.com) was a little tricky. I'll edit this post later to add details, or maybe I should start a new thread called "A Noob's Guide to setting up a disk-less ReadyNAS Duo ver. 2."

Anybody know if setting the ReadyNas to power off overnight, and back up in the morning, is going to cause problems when I try to fire up the SBT or Duet?

I have used a timed power off and on with my NV+ with great success for almost 4 years.
My duet controllers detect the server being back on line with no problem.
If I power on the NV+ off schedule, it is no problem. Just takes a couple of minutes to boot up and squeezboxes are ready to go.
If you try and use the Duets or SBT with the server off it will want to connect to mysqueezebox.com
so you will need to remember to reconnect to the NV when it is on.
