The later means than if the display would have shown scrolling text then it will not be updated taking cpu time even though you can't see it.
Got it...thanks. It seems to work just fine. I do prefer the flexibility of being able to access the Touch's screen (though I mainly use iPeng) without needing to give up the potential noise benefit of having the screen off. This app does away with the slight inconvenience of having to ssh into tt 3.0 in order to turn the screen back on/off when I need to get at the Touch's screen menus. Much appreciated, Triode.

    Installed and working - thanks.
I haven't noticed any improvement in sound quality, but it doesn't sound any worse.
I'll have to bring the other Touch downstairs and link it up to the DAC and synchronise playback to enable A/B comparison.
    T'aint happening tonight....

No - its still on the 3rd party list. You should look on the player Apps Gallery, 3rd Party Apps

    Question for Triode

    Hi Triode,

I seem to be having an odd problem with this app. I've installed and reinstalled it several times. The problem is that each time I install it, for a short time after installation, the backlight turns off along with the screen. Then at some point, not long after installation, the backlight starts remaining on (more obvious at night, of course), even though the screen turns off. So, I have a glow-in-the-dark Touch.

I have the delay set to 10 sec. and have the "screen off" box ticked in Screensavers for all of the states---when playing, when paused, when stopped. Any ideas as to what's causing the backlight to go off for a bit and then come back on and remain that way? Thanks...

    It's in Settings > Advanced >Applet Installer.

Then you have to UNcheck the box named "Recommended Apps Only" and then touch it. Once you get the list, you'll see "Display Off".

    Cheers,

Triode....I now know the trigger, but don't know the fix

    Hi Triode,

I finally figured out what's going on with the backlight. If I use only the Touch to control everything, your app works perfectly. But, I use iPeng on an iPad, for the most part, and any input from iPad/iPeng triggers the backlight (but not the screen) to go on. The backlight will stay on until I utilize the Touch's screen in any way---then, after the 10 sec. delay, backlight (and screen, of course) turn off.

So, something to do with the iPad/iPeng commands is triggering the backlight. Any thoughts on how to fix this (other than not using iPeng/iPad which I do about 99% of the time)??

    Merry Christmas and thank you...
