I am very satisfied with the functionality of my Squeezeboxes. I LOVE them... Truly love them. Last night we were without electricity for about 10 hours and I really missed them even more than I missed my coffee maker this morning. The electric came on at about 6:30 and I'm now enjoying my music plus a great cup of javvvahhhah. I'm a very happy camper.
To answer the main question about what I'd like to have added to the Squeezebox experience...I would like to have "making and saving playlist" capabilities while using mysb.com. Maybe it exists and I'm unaware. To my knowledge you can only save playlists via LMS.

alarm
What I seem to be missing (and I wonder if I'm overlooking something) is the fact that nowhere I can find a list of active alarms and when they will trigger. I would have expected this on the stand-by clock screen, somewhere below the alarm bell icon.

Player > Settings > Alarm Clock, all set Alarms are listed. You can move Alarm Clock folder to your Home menu for easier access.
Might check with the author of the Custom Clock applette, maybe that person can add the "next scheduled alarm" to the clock screen.

searching
Thanks for the tips about searching. I don't have an IOS device so I don't get to try iPeng, and I don't have a windows machine, so I don't get to try museo.
As for why LMS search is inadequate for my needs, I see that I have posted previously about this: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showth...arch-algorithm
Basically, one and the same piece might be labelled "Brahms: Quintet for Piano and Strings" on one album, "Brahms: Klaverquintett" on another, "Brahms: Piano quintet" on another, etc. The performances might be found on albums with titles like "Brahms and Schumann: Piano Quintets", "Brahms chamber works", etc.
LMS search is not capable of finding these (say at the cost of also finding just a few other things). The search "Brahms quint" will find all of them (as well as Brahms quintets for other instrument combinations) on iTunes. That is why I often resort to searches on iTunes before playing something via LMS.

I've been pretty happy with Slimdevices for many years. My Duet hardware works flawlessly as do the booms and various revisions of classics around the house. Only recently has my enjoyment been reduced by the fact that Squeeze does not fully support Slacker Premium service. Slacker is my preferred service and I want the functionality in Premium. The content is what is important, and the hardware is just a means to it. If Sonos or other hardware fully support the content I want, then that's where I have to go.
Right now I feel like I support two brilliant businesses (Slacker/Squeezebox) that have been beat out by more flexible and creative rivals (Pandora/Sonos). Still rooting for the good guys, but my experience is worse and my patience is waning.

What I really miss and want is the ability of squeezebox to pause and rewind live internet radio and to schedule recordings. Hope that it will do radio just like what a PVR could do to TV channels. It should be easy for logitech to add that function to the media server.

It just hit me!
Old thread but new idea. As I am now leaving my house and saying goodbye to my beautiful Squeezebox music, it just hit me!
We could use a mobile Squeezebox application to use in the car. We'd never have to leave the Squeezebox experience behind.
What do you think?Ikabob

Higher bitrate output on iPhone
I know that Apple limits the rate at which you can stream, but I would vote for a pseudo-stream option where I either load up my iPhone ahead of time (a la iTunes) or let it buffer for a while to accomplish the same result. Then be able to output at something like VBR 0. I got a Squeezebox because I wanted to improve the fidelity for home listening, but for car or at work, I either need to sacrifice audio quality or integrated playlist and statistics management. I don't need to listen to lossless in the car (well, unless I'm parked), but would like better than 128k.
