My Squeezebox Radio works great at home, but I'm wondering if I can take it on vacation with me. I go to a location that has "free" wifi, but you have to log in via Google (or any other Search Engine). A DNS Entry page pops up when you try to search on Google. You then type in the username and password and away you go for a day or so. The username a and PW have been the same for a number of years, since we've been going there, it just kicks you off once or twice a day so you have to log in again with whatever device you are using (laptop, iPad, etc...)
Think it'll work?? if so, how do I input the applicable info?? Or, because I'm not "surfing" It'll just work???
Thanks
Jim W

No, this will likely not work, unfortunately.
It's the same with BT Hotspots here in the UK. It works on the same principle. I didn't manage to connect a Radio to that either.

The two most realistic solutions AFAIU:
1) Use a laptop as a "wireless bridge": Connect the Radio to the laptop via Ethernet. Connect the laptop to the WiFi. Enable Internet sharing on the laptop. Enter the password on the laptop, and let the Radio piggyback on its connection.
2) Talk to the person managing the wireless network. Ask if they can excempt the Radio from the password check. You'll probably have to give them the Radio's MAC address for this.

Thanks very much for the input. The bridge idea looks like it has legs. At least then I can have an excuse to bring my laptop on vacation. :-)

If you only want internet radio, point your browser to TuneIn radio instead. Or, if you have a smartphone or tablet, install the mobile version on one of them and leave the laptop at home. I have the PRO version on my i-devices allowing me to pause or record playback which the free version lacks. This is a feature I miss on my Squeezeboxes.

If you are going the laptop route you might want to look into the Connectify application. Easy to use and there is a free version.

I recently took mine on vacation and used it with zero problems. I didn't do anything "fancy" other than getting the log-in info for the hotel's wi-fi network and setting up the connection, as you normally would. All my presets and everything were just the same as at home...as expected... I can't sleep without my Coast to Coast AM. LOL
