I don't mind trying weird $#!+ if it's not a lot of trouble/messy and is free. Most of the time I undo it anyways.

^ Thanks. I had absolutely no idea people were doing SBT internal stuff like that. I think I'll look into it more, but I'd have to get another Touch first, can't "risk" being without one fully functional.

As for the sandwich box, it was done neatly...I am used to seeing prototypes of all sorts of things, and most look far far worse. To those not used to seeing them, sure it may seem "junky" but that's how most products/ideas start out.

Granted, but those prototypes are generally less reliable and don't exactly perform better than finished production units.

fair point, the original APPLE I computer for example!

Also granted; and a prototype is theoretically never meant to actually be used by anybody. Some insist on destroying them (all sorts of reasons), and unfortunately from some other companies they become Version 1. I just used the word "prototype" in the general sense of an unfinished project during development. SBGK has said before he does this stuff for his own enjoyment etc., so I didn't mean to infer he was developing a product (AFAIK).

Edit: Gary, I suppose you heard of the Apple I that sold for IIRC $180k recently. And people ask why I don't throw out my electronic "garbage"...

yep, amazing, but not surprised given the money floating around among technology guys. I still have my original APPLE II (the original one with the ][ for the II). Still works last I tried a couple of years ago. I actually have the body of the thing hanging on my office wall as a piece of art. And I'm fond of it....I wrote my master's thesis, my PhD dissertation, and my first published article on that machine!

...and I saw some 1950s/60s auto prototypes at a car show recently that are worth millions that were supposed to be destroyed back then originally.

Sorry if this has been covered but I couldn't find anything.

24/96 is more than enough for my ears so I'm not really interested in the 24/192 aspect here.

    1) Can I use the Touch USB output with an Audiophilleo? Do I need to install EDO?
    2) Theoretically(or empirically) would this setup be an improvement on a straight coax out to coax in on my DAC

    Thank you

I think you can use an Audiopilleo with the Touch. I don't have one so I can't be sure. It sounds like it is uac2 compatible so it should work with the Touch. You DO need EDO in order to use a USB audio device with the Touch.

Will it be better than the coax out from the Touch? Who knows, that is VERY dependent on the DAC. For some DACs it won't make a difference, for some it will be better and there will probably be some for which it sounds worse.

Thanks for your response. I guess I'll continue with TT 3.0 and coax for now.

A bit off topic but... for around the same price as the Audiophilleo there's the EA Synchro-Mesh reclocker that also caught my attention. Not much info but a few people appear to be getting good results using it with the Touch.
