Ok. Please make me aware of the proper way to get artwork to display properly.

I am uploading an immense volume of live shows ive recorded over the years, and am creating my own artwork for the covers. what is the proper way to create /embed/store the artwork so that it displays properly>

do i embed it in the file itself (media monkey or similar) or not embed and store it in the same folder as the concerts? (and if so what to name it?)

    thank you!

Name it Front.jpg, make sure file size isn't too large, put it in same folder as the music files, rescan the library in LMS.

folder.jpg or cover.jpg too one folder per "album" /show or embedd .

If you embedd this has precedence over an image file .

"scan for new and changed" is not good at finding *.jpg files ,clear and rescan works .

Embedded art is found by rescan for changes

In the past, I occasionally had some problems with embedded art showing properly. Removed all embedded art and placed it in a cover.jpg file per album. Has worked flawlessly since. All my art is 500X500 pixels.

Well, I also use 500x500 art which I scan myself. I embed the art in every single track it applies to [Edit: I'm speaking of FLACs here, I do it differently for WAVs], so if I copy tracks here or there at home I don't have to be concerned. I limit the size of art to 30KB usually, 40KB if it's "complicated", 60KB if it's really complicated (not common with current releases). A trivial amount of space when tunes are 10s of MB each. I've never had an issue with the SBT displaying it. But you must be a bit careful of the "advanced" settings re your library. And you probably should re-scan your whole library when you add a bunch of stuff...at least I do.

The SBT can make the crappiest art look not so bad. Using iPeng, crap art that looks fine on the SBT looks like real crap, almost illegible. Edit: should say that this is not *my* 500x500 art looking bad, it is the stuff you might get from amazon etc.

If you are using VortexBox, the preferred art location is cover.jpg in each album directory.

If you want to find or upgrade cover art, bliss works very well for this. http://www.blisshq.com. I have it set to look for cover art 500x500 or larger. This displays well on my iPad with iPeng or SqueezePad. Well worth the cost. You can install bliss from the VB GUI Upgrade page http://vortexbox/upgrade.php.

Why pay for it when you can get it for free?

I use embedded art for a number of reasons , foremost the file is self sufficient if I pick single songs to be used in another context they still have their art and for downloaded albums it has been common with different art for every track ?

But I still keep a cover.jpg/folder.jpg for each album , in case some software prefers that .

    > 500*500 since I got an iPad .

Always use jpeg ! Resizing png or bmp is a memory hog for the server bitmaps are the worst .
Especially if you use embedding , embedding a large BMP is not a good thing.

People, that use the Touch stand alone have problems with large art and non jpeg art, sometimes also embedded art ?

Really big art can be a problem like 3000*3000 if you have a slow server or for some iPad apps empirically ~ 1400*1400 works for me

    Also embedded + folder.jpg.

Embedded because if I copy single tracks to other players they still have art. Folder to show in the folders and have a backup if the tags get messed up.
