Hi All -
I recently bought a refurbished BOOM from netdirectSales via ebay. (I haven't received it yet). They offer a 30 day 100% return policy.
I have owned a Touch since January, so I'm familiar with the Squeezebox product and use. I know that the BOOM is not in production anymore, but I am going to need a portable device that I am going to use for a party next month. I couldn't wait to see what Logitech is going to offer (if any) as a replacement for the BOOM. The SqueezeboxRadio is a bit too small (and not stereo) for my purposes. I plan to leave it playing outside synced to the SBT playing on the stereo inside.
I am seeking any tips or suggestions for things to look for immediately after I take it out of the box. I've read here that there were subwoofer problems, I'll have to read that throroughly before I hook it up. Will I need to update it ot the latest software, or will it do that automatically?
Thanks in advance!

I think you'll enjoy the Boom. I enjoyed mine until the woofers (not sub-woofer) died. See this thread for more info, and how you may go about checking the driver surrounds on your Boom: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showth...e-Fixing-Booms

oops, yeah woofer, no sub!
Thanks for the link. The one I bought has been refurbished, hopefully the woofer issue was addressed while it was refurnished. I've had luck with a refurbished Marantz (from another dealer - accessories4less.com), so I am joping that luck spreads here.
I know that as soon as I get i t, logitecj will announce their new product!

Just connect it to your LMS server or MySB.com online, it will automatically update it's firmware. Current Boom firmware version is 57.

It depends who did the refurbishing, of course. It takes only 5 minutes to check so you should when you receive it. Based on user postings, the only tool required is one of the following: a butter knife, a bent paper clip, a bass-strings-hardened-fingernail, or a reasonable facsimile of one of those.
There's the optimism!
