    Screensaver problem

I have my screensaver set to Digital Clock when the SBT is turned off onto standby. Despite this all I get is a black screen with nothing on it.
Can anyone help with this please?

Are you using a USB disk plugged into the Touch to store your music? The Touch doesn't have a battery backed up clock, so when you unplug the power the time gets lost, the Touch keeps track of this and won't display the clock if it know's it doesn't have a valid time.

The Touch is designed to set it's clock from the server it is connected to, but if you use a USB drive connected to the Touch, the server is on the Touch so the server doesn't have a correct time either. In this situation its supposed to try and connect to mysqueezebox.com over the internet to get the time. If it can't get to the internet or has a problem logging onto mysqueezebox.com it might not get the time.

If you are connected to a local LMS server the Touch should get the time from that server and the clock should display.

    Thanks John,
It appears I might have a unit with a problem.

1).The screensaver clock used to show but has been doing so less & less as time goes on. It is now six months old and despite the screensaver being set correctly, with the Touch in standby it will not show the time at all now. This happens with or without a USB drive connected. Mostly I eject the drive after each use of it.
2).Another issue. Whenever I try to start the Logitech Media Server to play from a USB drive, I always get the message that there is a connection problem. Each & every time I then have to unplug & replug the power and then it works immediately with no issue.

Apart from having to unplug to get the Media Server to activate, the Touch always has 240v power supplied. It is only ever turned off by using the orange power button on the remote.

These issues happen with either wireless or Ethernet connection. There is no issue with my broadband connection as proved by my Cambridge Sonata NP-30 which streams perfectly at any time.

John, from the above, is it possible that I have a faulty unit?

    Thanks & kind regards,
    Dave

Connect your Touch to MySB.com, see it it updates it's time. Touch > Settings > Advanced > Network > Switch to MySqueezeBox.com
Now just select My Music to get back to your Touch's server. Is your Touch's firmware up to date?

    Is your USB HDD ....
    - self powered (not relying on USB bus power)?
    - it going to sleep with some HDD utility?
    - formatted as a single partition?
    - any non music related files on it?

Thanks heaps. The firmware needed updating and that immediately solved the issues. I had assumed that updates would happen automatically, so now I know to check this now & then.

    Cheers,
