I finally decided to update my SBS to the latest LMS 7.7.2 version, after I've been using 7.5.4 for a long time without any major issues. The server update itself went pretty smooth, and after I started the new server all three of my Squeezeboxes (Touch, Radio and Boom) were updating their firmware. Touch and Radio went fine, but the Boom got stuck at about 5/6 of the progress bar. Being afraid to break something by messing with the update process, I've let it sit for at least an hour, but still, the progress bar wouldn't move. I finally pull the plug and restart the Boom, luckily it would still turn on, but run the firmware all over again and get stuck at the very same spot as before.
In the meantime I've unsuccessfully tried all of the following means to get my Boom to complete its firmware update:
- Connect to mysb.com to get the firmware update,
- Connect via ethernet to the router,
- Factory reset, Xilinx reset, any combination thereof,
but the update still hangs every time in the very same spot. As a last resort I tried downgrading SBS to 7.6.2 and 7.5.5, no dice.
Now I'm back at SBS 7.5.4 and my Boom happily runs and plays on firmware 53 as if it's never had an issue to begin with. I could just leave it at that and stay at 7.5.4, but in the current state I will never be able to connect the Boom to mysb.com or update the server if any of the existing functionality breaks. Does anybody have any idea what else I could try for my Boom to finally complete its firmware update?
Needlessly to say, out of my three players the Boom is the one I like most (for its awesome display), never understood why Logitech let it go EOL.

For reference, it seems that these two issues are related:

http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?64147
Except that the proposed solution, connecting the box by wire, doesn't help for me. I even tried connecting to a different network alltogether and still the update from mysb.com hangs in the very same spot.
