Beats me, I've always suspected that to be a bit misdirected. Assuming jitter of this magnitude actually does affect sound quality, I wouldn't be at all surprised to find USB DACs that fared worse in that respect than many of the traditional DACs or for that matter the DACs built into the Squeezeboxes. Somehow it is assumed that because it's asynchronous it will by definition perform better.
However, my question this time wasn't directed at the alleged impact of jitter, merely how the OP verified that the mods affected and more importantly improved jitter.

SBGK, whats wrong with a bit of vetting? If you want this stuff to be respected it has to endure public scrutiny.

I wont be hateful, hell ill even try it and test it blind, in a very scientific manner and have some others do it as well.

    so cmon...

Here are my thoughts on how to improve the sound of the Touch beyond TT3.0 and EDO.

They have mainly been well received by people who have tried them, think the only issues have been where people have had to decode on the Touch rather than the server.

They were derived mainly from hunches, trial and error and reading linux optimisation blogs.

If there are any people that know more about Linux and Alsa then maybe they can come up with better settings.

My SB Touch has "out of memory errors" with these settings. The SB touch freezes and needs a soft reboot.
No errors since I commented out this line : echo 2147483646 > /proc/sys/net/core/optmem_max
