Preset buttons losts settings, won't reprogram

I have a Boom with version 57 firmware and Logitech Media Server Version: 7.7.1 - r33750 @ Mon Dec 12 09:42:47 PST 2011. All of the preset buttons have lost their settings - they say "Preset # ? not defined" when pressed, with the correct number. When I'm playing a stream and hold down the button, it doesn't program. How can I fix this?

Boom presets (previously saved & setting new) work fine for me on 7.7.2 & firmware 57.
    Tried rebooting the Boom?

Yeah, rebooted it with no change. How do I force an upgrade to 7.7.2?

Connect Boom to MySB.com and/or download the LMS 7.7.2 server from MySB.com > My Media
But I'm rather doubt your issue is firmware related.

What do you think is causing the problem?

No idea. Could try a Xilinx chip reset. Disconnect the power, Press and hold the "1" preset button on the front panel, Reconnect the power, Release the "1" button when you see "Programming Xilinx" on the screen

As suggested, also try connecting directly to MySB.com, force a firmware update from MySB.com, make sure you let the Boom completely cycle through the update process including a self reboot, may take several minutes.

Same problem here. LMS 7.7.2, Boom firmware 57. Existing presets work OK, but can't reprogram the preset buttons. I have two Booms, both have the same problem.
Have tried firmware update, xilinx reset, no improvement.

    Any ideas?

    Soltuion

same prob - just got a new (replacement) SB 'cause my old one had a buffering/ reconnecting issue .. here's how I solved it (FW 57):

    - go to http://mysqueezebox.com/settings/favorites and put the first six of your favs into the order you would like it to be for your 6 preset buttons. That is being done via drag & drop. If that does not work in the browser you're trying this with, use another browser until it works. My version (latest) of Google Chrome had some probs with it so I used Firefox
    - hold the power button for a few secs until the unit restarts
    - push the power button again, this time only brief
    - with NO station playing, push the big button
    - go into Favorites
    - scroll to the fav you want to save as a preset
    - hold down the preset button you want that fav to be saved as
    - continue for the other preset buttons. Having pre-ordered, you now only have to scroll the button 1 x clockwise, then push the next preset button

The key for successful preset button programming seems to be that no station is playing, so make sure you at least press the pause || button before trying to save presets. And if || proves not be enough, do the power-cycle as described above.

If you still can't program, do a factory reset (search this forum how to do that if u don't know how2 !!)

    Solution II

I've discovered that, using a SB remote control with number buttons, holding one of the number buttons down saves the corresponding preset on the Boom, just like holding the front panel buttons used to.
