After a fresh install of EDO and TT3.0 I just gave SBGK settings a try. This time I'm not getting any freeze ups and it's sounding good (perceived or real)

However Touch firmware has yet to update to 7.8 and as a consequence when I try to play 24/192 files I lose the signal altogether and need to restart LMS even to play reg files.

I tried logging on to MySqueezebox.com and changing LMS settings to enable checking/downloading of software updates but it's still stuck at 7.7.2

Another interesting thing is that when I open LMS Avast pops up a "suspicious file" warning and I need to manually "OK" it.

Very much doubt these cause any changes to occur. The usb module is statically linked as part of the kernel not loaded as a module and I believe these parameters only get read at init time - i.e. before you could run any script. So this is probably irrelevant. (These params could be set on a desktop linux version with loadable modules in the insmod command as you can pass params to a module at load time, but this is not applicable to Touch kernels). [in general if you need to change a parameter to be read/write from being read only so you can set it then it should give a hint that it doesn't do anything much....]

OK The good news - I finally managed to update Touch to 7.8 The bad news is that I'm still not able to stream 24-192 FLAC files from the server. I'm getting a "File format not supported - set a date" message.
    Set a date???

I'm using S/PDIF out to my E9018 DAC

Just installed the app on Touch: Firmware: 7.8.0-r16736

Fiber S/PDIF connection. (Did not see the dac itself, only digital out. Is that correct?)

DAC: ZERO 09 version (2011 edition)
    ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI...:X:AAQ:US:1123 [/url] )

    Specifications:
    ﹡Recevial chip CS8416
    ﹡Decode Chip AD1852
    ﹡Analogy Opamp chip: OPA627
    ﹡S/N ratio 105dB
    ﹡Distortion 0.0005%
    ﹡dynamic range: 117dB

    Everything works and sounds great!

    Thanks a lot!

busy to try a lot more

OK, I just tried this with my Touch (7.7.2), connected to a PS Audio Digital Link III DAC by coax. It took about ten seconds plus reboot time, and works perfectly so far. I haven't tried any critical listening so I can't say anything about the sound quality, but I do have one question, and I'm too lazy to try to read all 76 pages of this thread:

Is coax best to connect to my DAC, or should I use USB or optical? I have all three choices available. Thanks.

I have this DAC. The USB implementation on it is very poor. Avoid that. Optical only supports 24/96 max. So if you want to use anything higher that EDO is capable of, then you will need to use the Coax. I have streamed 24/192 to the DLIII without issues. Just make sure to keep the Upsampling setting to 192Khz....otherwise it will downsample 192 content to 96 ------ counterproductive

For those of you are able to stream 24/192 content - are you streaming FLAC files to the Touch or is the decoding to PCM being done from the server?

In other words in your FLAC file format settings is FLAC set to "NATIVE" or to "DISABLED" and is PCM set to "FLAC" or "DISABLED"?

I want to be able to stream 24/192 that has been decoded by the server and send it from the Touch to my DAC.

Does EDO + 7.8 make this possible or not?

    My DAC supports 24/192

It needs LMS version 7.8 beta to do this (+ the beta 7.8 firmware)

A current requirement of LMS is that only 24/192 FLAC can be streamed. If you turn off FLAC and try to push WAV naively, LMS will not stream it. This was was addressed some million or so entries above in this thread. I have not tried to do that, but I trust it won't work. On the other-hand, I use wifi, so I have no intention of deliberately doubling the bandwidth requirements I have to support. FLAC is good for me.

Sorry I just edited my post - I meant EDO + 7.8 As I mentioned earlier I finally got Touch firmware to catch up to server software.

I just tried a 24-192 file sent natively to the Touch and it worked. I then tried another from HD Tracks and it didn't. 24-192 PCM to Touch still not working at all. "Unsupported sample-rate" message.

I'm starting to wonder if it could be my DAC's input. I think I'll try replacing the hookup wire on the S/PDIF input with some shielded 75ohm minicoax
