Is it possible to listen to play-by-play sports?

Hi. I was wondering if it is possible to listen to play-by-play sports (baseball, football, etc) anywhere through my new Squeezebox. It appears that MLB, NFL, etc make one buy a package but I thought I'd ask just in case. I am more familiar with the CC WiFi radios (they use Reciva) but I can't listen through them either, even if I have the call letters/frequency of the local radio station (in another city) doing the broadcasting.
    Thank you.

I tried when I first got my Touch, but since I used to work in radio I had a gut feeling that unfortunately was confirmed. Seems the leagues won't let stations run the streams in the clear.

    Slacker ESPN

Thanks, MeSue. But it still sounds like I would have to sit in front of my PC during the games - something I won't do. Also, I won't carry my cell phone from room-to-room. Besides the cell service is so bad out here the stream would be constantly dropping. No, I want to listen via my CC WiFi radio or my Squeezebox radio. But I'll survive without hearing the play-by-play. It just would be fun. I often listen to the call-in/comment shows after the games to hear the fans reactions. Thanks again.

Squeezebox supports Slacker Radio--that's why I mentioned it. Or are you saying they won't stream the ESPN content to Squeezeboxes? I've never tried it--just happened to remember they sent me an email about having sports content.

Smile Didn't find Slacker but found lots of other stuff

Hi, MeSue. I am really new at all this so I'm probably not doing it right. First I went to TuneIn on my PC and did a search for "Slacker ESPN" and got nothing. Then I went to my Squeezebox radio and did a search for the word Slacker but again nothing came up. However, in just fooling around with things, I did find shows about some of the teams I'm interested in. I've been a little afraid to try to do too much on the SB. I've saved 6 stations in my pre-sets and I know how to go back to the list (on my Favorites, I think) to bring up another station. I already have several C.Crane WiFi radios and I am very comfortable with them, but this SB is quite different. Thanks for your patience.

I'm assuming she means the Slacker that you subscribe to. I have siriusXM and I just looked and you can get play-by-play, ESPN, etc. via Squeezeboxes. But just like with Slacker, this is not free...you'll need a subscription to the service and then you can listen via your PC, your smart phone, OR your squeezebox system.

Howard: You would have to add the Slacker app through mysqueezebox.com. But garym is right, you only get ESPN with a Plus or Premium paid subscription. You should be able to get a free trial through mysqueezebox.com.

Local Stations have play by play

Team 990 - I sometimes will listen to the Habs. Of course I'd rather watch on Center Ice package :-)
