is there any posibility of someone writing a patch/plugin/app that allows manual control over re-scans at power on (knowing that no data has been added/changed on hdd)?
i like using the SBT as a stand alone player connected to usb hdd. initial scan is slow, as expected. but, i'd like to also power off my hdd when not in use. i know when power is switched back on it's a quick scan for data changes, but it's still slow and a bit of a pain every time i just wanna turn on and listen (can take 10-15mins). i've seen from searching for workarounds/hdd spin down/alternatives etc etc that others would like to utilize as a straight hdd player and this would benefit them too.
i'm not a developer, this is a request to those who are (i have zero knowledge of linux too).

the concept seems simple, maybe the development side of things isn't, forgive my lacking education of all programming.
what do you think, possible?
perhaps it can only be implemented in similar way to soundcheck's toolbox, or even in soundchecks next release?
