Hi. I've ordered a squeezebox touch and i was wondering if it is possible to play music to more than one room from one squeezebox touch?

Yes, as all the outputs of the TOUCH are "live" at the same time. There are TWO digital outs and one analog out. So, you can connect RCA analog cables out to one stereo/powered speakers, and the optical digital out connected to the optical digital in of, say, your AV receiver. But this is a lot of "wiring". A better approach is to have another TOUCH in the other room. Then no wires are needed and you can either play different things in different rooms OR synch the players to play the same thing in different rooms.
what exactly are you trying to do in terms of playing to more than one room???Location 1: VortexBox Appliance 6TB (2.2) > LMS 7.7.2 > Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet)
Location 2: VBA 3TB (2.2) > LMS 7.7.2 > Touch > Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio)
Office: Win7(64) > LMS 7.7.2 > SqueezePlay
Spares: VBA 4TB, SB3, Touch (3), Radio (3), CONTROLLER
Controllers: iPhone4S (iPeng), iPad2 (iPengHD & SqueezePad), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.7 on Win7(64) laptop

I was just hoping to play the same music but in more than one room, but different music in different rooms would be good, too. Is there a different squeezebox that could do this that I could buy at a later date?

Yes, any of the SB players can be added to your home's SB environment, and you can either play different things on each player OR synch two or more players together to play exactly the same thing. See my signature and you see that I have multiple SB players at home (and at my weekend place). But in each location, all the players are being fed my music from a SINGLE location.
Currently Logitech only sells 2 different types of players:
1. TOUCH (requires connection to a stereo or powered speakers)
2. RADIO (has built in speakers, but is MONO).
Both players have headphone jacks as well.Location 1: VortexBox Appliance 6TB (2.2) > LMS 7.7.2 > Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet)

OK, thanks for your help. I've just been reading about the SB Duet to which I understand you could link extra 'receivers' and then play different music in different rooms from the one Duet? I guess from what you said, they don't make these anymore

and even if they made these my answer is still the same. A TOUCH is essentially a duet that has a screen. You'd still need a SB hardware player in each of your rooms (and that player could be a SB1,2,3, a BOOM, a duet receiver, a TOUCH, a RADIO, or a TRANSPORTER).
And you can conrol any and all of these players with a duet CONTROLLER, an app on an iphone, an ipad, an adroid, etc. So not really much need for an official duet CONTROLLER any more given that you can do the same thing (or more) with an app on your smart phone or tablet.Location 1: VortexBox Appliance 6TB (2.2) > LMS 7.7.2 > Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet)

To explain: the "Duet" is a package of a 'controller' and a 'receiver.'
The 'receiver' is a hardware player that has line/digital outs but communicates via blinking (easily decoded) light. It has good DACS but you need a 'controller' to set up a 'receiver' For a technical alternative that will allow you to use a 'receiver' without a 'controller' search around here for UDAP
The 'controller' is a stand alone device that connects with the server software and gives you a wifi connected way to control what the players play.
