How to separate two different equal named albums ?

    Hi

all files are mp3 with ID3v2.3 tags

I have two different albums, both called "No Stress" by various artists. In the SB eco-system, they get "merged" into the same album (this is hardly a surprise)

question: how to separate these two albums, apart from rename them to "No Stress (a)" and "No Stress (b)" ?

I'm not sure how you have the server set up, but if you set it up to browse multi-disc sets by disc, you could make one disc 1 and the other disc 2.

That depends on the rest of your collection.

    Other ideas:
--put a single space after one of the album names. That should work while visually looking like it's right.
--differing album artists could work. If the compilation tag is set they'd still appear in one spot.

    thanks for input,

I will try the "space" trick, and see if it works, or the scanner trims white space

Scanner trims white spaces before and after the name but not between the words.

I discovered that by accident as the web-UI trimms white spaces in-between (or just the way html works ) So they will even look identical in the web-UI but you notice the extra space on a player .

if you put the two into different folders, server should NOT be merging them. are you saying it is?

    hi

    thanks for all input

actually the two different albums are in four folders

    no stress (a) (CD 1)
    no stress (a) (CD 2)
    no stress (b) (CD 1)
    no stress (b) (CD 2)

as they are both two disc sets

Simple. Give the albums different names. I do this frequently with albums named "Greatest Hits" by appending the artist to the album name: "Greatest Hits [Elton John]", "Greatest Hits [Eagles]", etc.

are you looking under home -> albums?

my understanding of the "greatest hits logic" is that albums with the same name by the same artist (or AA) will NOT be merged IF the albums are in different folders.

The advice to use different albums names still applies to the OP's situation: "No Stress [Artist 1]" and "No Stress [Artist 2]" is how I would name the albums. Set the DISCNUMBER tag to 1 for the first CD, and DISCNUMBER=2 for the second CD in each set.

i agree, i do that myself.

but what concerns me is why is he seeing what he is seeing if the GH logic applies the way i described? either i'm wrong, (very possible), or something else is amiss here.
