New user, questions on wired set-up

Hello, new to the squeezebox and new to the forum. I am not planning on using the SBT for anything but playback of stored files on my Macbook. Can I connect the sbt to the Macbook using ethernet cable and install LMS on the laptop? Thanks for any help.

    Cheers,
    Shawn

Welcome. You can do that, but in general it's much more flexible, and easier, to connect your Squeezebox(es) to your server (the Macbook running LMS) via the router in your home network.

Thanks for your reply, connecting to the network makes sense, Cat5 cable is pretty cheap anyway.

Thanks Mnyb, I noticed in your signature you are using IpengHD and Squeezepad. Do you have both installed on your tablet or are you using the squeezepad for the tablet and Ipeng for your phone? I have an Ipad1, wondering which is considered best.

    Cheers,
    Shawn

I have both on my iPad 1 and i can't decide which is best so I have both, they cost about nothing so what the
I mostly use iPeng actually nowadays.

And they have playback option too as in app purchase .

There is also an free logitech app, but no it's kind of a letdown imo they should have bougth Squeezepad , ipeng is a bit different paradigm on the UI it is a real improvement but it is not identical the logitechs so a learning curve. but iPeng is the only UI with decent sync interface if you have multiple players

+1. I have ipeng on my iphone, ipengHD on my iPad, and squeezepad on my iPad. I like both ipad apps and wanted to support both developers. And at the cost of a couple cups of coffee, how can I complain!
