Thread: Lms 7.8?

LMS servi)ce does not start ecause of dependancy NETLOGON

    Hello,

after installing the latest 7.8 beta (coming from the foremer 7.8 beta) I'm having an issue running LMS as a service on my Windows Home Server 2011 (Windows 2008 R2 actually):

The service cannot be started because 1068: The dependancy service group failed to start.

In the sytem log it seems that NETLOGON is being started, but stops within a minute. This is because of 3095: This computer is configured as a member of a workgroup, not as a member of a domain. The Netlogon service does not need to run in this configuration.

Has this dependancy been changed in the latest release?

*edit* I removed the \ before the username in the service and then it works!

    No new MacOS X updates?

I just checked to see if there is a new MacOS X build available. Alas it seems that the MacOS X build are stuck at LogitechMediaServer-7.8.0-1342011222 whereas most of the other installers show LogitechMediaServer-7.8.0-1343433580 as the most recent build?

Based on the commit logs, there is only one change which aren't included in the OSX build, it is a correction related to MOG Australia that's not included if the timestamp/buildnumbers are correct.
I'm not sure why the OSX build hasn't been updated with this correction.

Yes, I did. It should run just fine. They even fixed whatever they had
broken in IE10 to make the UI not work in one of the last pre-release
    versions.

    Hi!

I have a question about about the LMS version versus firmware version, whether they should match or not?

I have a Touch, and installed the LMS 7.8.0 Nightly build:
    Logitech Media Server Version: 7.8.0 - 1346674706 @ Tue Sep 4 04:23:05 MDT 2012

Then I have noticed, the Touch firmware is not the latest, I have:
    Player Model: Squeezebox Touch
    Firmware: 7.7.2-r9663

So the firmware seems to match for 7.7.2 version.

I checked the firmware download page:
    http://update.slimdevices.com/update/firmware/7.8.0/
As I know the Touch firmware is called fab4xxx.bin.
According to it, the Touch should have fab4.bin 7.8.0 r16739.

Checked the LMS RPM itself, this LMS build (at least the RedHat RPM version) does not have the Touch firmware in "\usr\share\squeezeboxserver\Firmware\". , but no fab4.bin file in this LMS RPM.

    Is this difference intentional?
So should I update the Touch firmware separately? Or it has a reason why fab4 firmwarre is excluded from the Nightly build?

    Thanks in advance!

Is your Touch connected to your local LMS?
On your Touch, if you go to Settings > Advanced > Software Update, are you offered 7.8.0 r16739?

touch or radio firmware are never in the nighly builds ( and has never been ) they are downloaded later from logitechs server to your updates folder if you have such player .But if you have previously turned of upgrades you will never get it .
I have lately been offered an upgrade to both my Touch on my running install so they are regularly pushed .
server and player fw are not always upgraded at the same time . Note that Touch fw includes a version of the server so it is actually bigger in size than the actual server , that's maybe a reason for why Radio,Touch and Controller fw is downloaded later but only if you actually have one .

Yes, my Touch is connected to local LMS.
I'm not offered to update to 7.8.0 r16739.
According to Touch, my firmware is up-to-date.
But as I mentioned, the 7.8.0 r16739 firmware is NOT included in LMS.

    Ok, thanks for info.
I had the automatical upgrades with turned off in LMS settings. Now I enabled it. Rebooted Touch but no difference, according to Touch my firmware is up-to-date.

I understand that fab4 is not in LMS and Touch gets from online, however for some reason it doesn't get the 7.8.0 firmware, I don't know if it's normal.

Hence still the question is the same, should I update the Touch firmware from 7.7.2-r9663 to 7.8.0 r16739 manually or not?

    Thanks a lot
