    Automatic album art

    Hi,
On my Android phone, I get automatic album art.

On Gnome Rhythmbox on Linux, I get automatic album art.

On Squeezebox, is there a way to get automatic album art?

    Thanks, Darren

I don't think you are going to get automatic album-art.

Your best bet is to find a tagger that can retrieve album covers for you and put the covers in your album folders or embed them into your tags. It'll probably be more reliable anyway. I don't know how many times I get other devices automatically inferring an incorrect album cover.

where does it put that art?

i find one art file and a copy of it per album (which means per folder) works best for me. Folder.jpg ...where thats the literal filename, not the name of the folder.

any decent ripper should grab art for you at rip time. otherwise you'll need a utility / tagger / something to do it now, if u have a lot to do.

Thanks emalvick and Mr Sinatra. Been a bit busy but I had some time to fix this today.

I want to do it on Linux and I want to do it automatically. I found a player called Amarok that can download art and installed that. Amarok could find cover art for about two thirds of my music. Then into Amarok I installed the add-on script 'Copy All Cover' and ran it. A rescan of squeezeboxserver picked up the new artwork.

Amarok is available in Synaptic Package Manager on Debian (and I presume Ubuntu and other distros). The add-on can be found here: http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php...content=138284. Regards,
    Darren

Yes , but it died due to some issue , they could not find any artwork provider ? on what terms I don't know ,I think LastFM was to be source for the art in one phase of development .

But I guess really high quality must come from a commercial source ? if a company is going to be legal . but I don't get those things .

Cache is a good guess as one of the cherished features of LMS is that the music library can be read only if you set your file permission in that way.
I actually think many of the linux users has their library read only . And it is also seen as very good feature that LMS actually don't have any tools to write to the files which would be needed if you wan't to embedd art .
Yeas so the idea must have been to add the art to the dB if it where missing from the file or the folder.

So only provide art if the user did not provide it himself ,that was a really good idea .

But yeah to apeal to more users LMS would have to adopt to be a more complete music manager in many ways .
