Difficulty updating LogitechMediaServer on ReadyNAS Duo

I have had the current setup working fine for several years:

    Model: ReadyNAS Duo [X-RAID]
    Serial: 1VB386RW0006E
    Firmware: RAIDiator 4.1.8 [1.00a043]
    Memory: 256 MB [2.5-3-3-7]

    Squeezebox v3 firmware 137

    connected via ethernet.

I recently upgraded the Squeezebox/Logitech software on the ReadyNAS.

I removed the earlier software and then attempted to update via the Local tab on the ReadNAS web interface.

    trying

    LogitechMediaServer_7.7.1-sparc-readynas
When I got to Perform system update
    I got the message:
"Invalid checksum detected in the update file. Update aborted"

I had the same result when trying to install

    SqueezeboxServer_7.4.0-sparc-readynas
    or
    SqueezeCenter_7.2.1

I now seem unable to install any software on the ReadyNAS which will serve music to my squeezebox.

    Can you help?

    Thanks

Hi, Until you get to a 7.7.2 build, and particularly coming from an earlier 7 release, you will need to clear the Squeezebox database.

See the installation instructions at http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com/...ail/a_id/12125

and follow them and you should be ok.

Once at a 7.7.2 release, you can update the image, restart the NAS without these steps - which is great.

    Simon.

      Thanks Simon

I had followed all those instructions.

It transpires that the OS memory on the ReadyNAS had too little free space. Someone from the ReadyNAS forums parachuted in and did a clean out via SSH access - I wouldn't have known how to do that myself. 7.7.1 now installed on ReadyNAS and for the first time the LMS Web interface is usable on the NAS - presumably because of the freed up memory.

No. You only needed to do this up to SBS 7.5 if the update otherwise
failed. With 7.6 and later there's no MySQL database to dump any more.

Unfortunately these instructions are misleading and obsolete. I've been
fighting with support over removing them for several weeks. But oh well...

          Hello Michael--

Is there a good, updated guide somewhere to installing LMS on a ReadyNas to use with a Touch and/or Duet? I've been searching . . .

Edit: I am going to follow what appear to be great instructions from Virgil here: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showth...on-ReadyNAS-NV

I am just wondering if Logitech has a good updated guide somewhere.

          Thanks
