Most DACs I ever had did pop in that way.
As my Transporter does this too I would not call it bad design.![]()

It is bad design. No DAC I have ever owned (and there have been many!) has done this. If I bought one that did, I would send it straight back. I can't speak for the TP. I have never (and will never) own a NOS DAC...
There is simply no reason other than lazy design for spurious noise on sample rate transition between tracks.You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it ain't what you'd call minimal...
