    Most DACs I ever had did pop in that way.
    As my Transporter does this too I would not call it bad design.

    It is bad design. No DAC I have ever owned (and there have been many!) has done this. If I bought one that did, I would send it straight back. I can't speak for the TP. I have never (and will never) own a NOS DAC...

    There is simply no reason other than lazy design for spurious noise on sample rate transition between tracks.
    You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it ain't what you'd call minimal...
