Just wait and see if you don't get the update in the next days it migth be something to worry about.

I have never actually monitored the success rate of this and how many times LMS usually harass the server about it .

But I have had 9601 for a while now ?

    No, it's a persistent error.

If I download the firmware from http://update.slimdevices.com/update/firmware/7.7.2/ and place it in the update folder, it refuses to install.

I have been following Erland's "howto" here http://forums.slimdevices.com/showth...=fab4+firmware

    No luck.

    edit:

Deleting the firmware file from my local update folder, restart LMS, it starts to download, getting 33M of code, and it deletes the files again.

I think the checksum of the firmware is broken (as written: "SHA1 checksum did not match"), that's why LMS deletes the download.

There is a version file accompanying the bin file have a look at this one maybe download that to.

There have been cases where version file and bin file have been mismatched due to error on their servers ?

    > C:\ProgramData\Squeezebox\Cache\updates\fab4_7.7.2 _r9601.bin failed,

Please shut down LMS, wipe that folder, restart.
