    Question Issue with Library

I have a SB Touch and am very pleased. There is one issue for me that I can't seem to resolve.

Since I installed the SB Touch, I have made a number of changes to my Library, including re-ripping some of my favorite CDs. In a prior, less-informed life, I used Windows Media Player to listen with a earbuds from the analog out jack on my laptop. I just allowed Windows to rip the CD however. I was blissfully ignorant.

Well, I have learned quite a bit and now use dbPowerAmp to rip to lossess FLAC files for listening. After I re-ripped a few of these old favorite CDs to FLAC, I then deleted the old folders with the WMA files.

Problem: in a few instances - maybe five or six, the SB Touch lists two of the same album: one is empty (but there is a album art and a folder to select) and one contains the re-ripped FLAC files.

A quick perusal of the Library via my laptop indicates that there is only one copy of any album - no duplicates. I have re-scanned the Library from within the SB SW - no changes.

This is not a huge issue, it is just more of a nuasance.

    Any advice?

do you have any playlists in LMS with tracks that are pointing to the old WMA file locations.
    Location 1: VortexBox Appliance 6TB (2.2) > LMS 7.7.2 > Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet)
    Location 2: VBA 3TB (2.2) > LMS 7.7.2 > Touch > Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio)
    Office: Win7(64) > LMS 7.7.2 > SqueezePlay
    Spares: VBA 4TB, SB3, Touch (3), Radio (3), CONTROLLER
Controllers: iPhone4S (iPeng), iPad2 (iPengHD & SqueezePad), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.7 on Win7(64) laptop
Ripping (FLAC) - dbpoweramp, Tagging - mp3tag, Spotify

I don't know if this is something that would affect LMS, but did you empty the Trash in Windows? It might not make any difference, but you never know. Also are you doing just a New and Changed scan or a Clear and Rescan? I know sometimes the database can get a bit clunky after a bunch of changes and sometimes needs to be rebuilt.

    Talking Thank you!

I selected "Clear and Re-scan" - all is well.

    Best,

    Brent

Good. Sometimes the database just gets a bit corrupted, so I'm glad it all got worked out.

A dedicated server won't necessarily do anything for the sound quality per se, but with the Touch not having to strain it's small internal processor and it's even smaller onboard memory, things will run much better. When I got my Touch a couple of years ago it only took me a few hours before I decided to ditch the Touch's onboard server for a computer. With a library of over 56,000 tracks (most ALAC), the Touch just couldn't handle it. Plus I discovered a few plugins that are really helpful that I couldn't use with the Touch's internal server. So while the files themselves won't sound different, without the quirks of the Touch's internal server, it may "feel" like they are better. If you know what I mean.
