    I just had the server basically freeze up on my 2 times tonight both times going to new music. One time from Squeezecommander and the second from the web interface.

    Each time I find the following in the log files.

    [12-02-28 19:34:24.2868] Slim::Networking::IO::Select::__ANON__ (147) Error: Select task failed calling Slim::Web::HTTP:rocessHTTP: illegal file descriptor or filehandle (either no attached file descriptor or illegal value): at /<C:\PROGRA~2\SQUEEZ~1\server\SqueezeSvr.exe>Slim/Networking/IO/Select.pm line 150.
    ; fh=Slim::Web::HTTP::ClientConn=GLOB(0x918c8ec)

    It's absolutely related somehow someway.

    The memory setting makes no difference.

    It doesn't happen specifically on rescan. My Squeezebox server was left idle for 3-4 hours today and the new music list stalled out and the above error was generated again.

    Bug has been filed, if you are seeing this issue please vote:

    How is your server set up? Where is the cache directory (containing the database) and where are the audio files located? SSD, internal hard drives, external USB/eSATA drives, NAS, RAID array...

    My flac files are on an external enclosure, 2x2TB drives in a Raid 0, connected to my server via eSata.

    My cache directory is on my system drive. 1TB Black 7200RPM drive.

    Could be a flaky connection to the external drive enclosure. I think others have seen that when using network shares for the library. Doesn't seem like it should block the server, but they've never really had a good handle on running the server on Windows.

    No the eSata connection to the external enclosure is dead stable. LMS is on the same server as the enclosure.

    The eventlog would be full of disk errors and I have zero issues accessing the share to put new music on it, or to play music via J River.

    How about enabling Debug level logging for 'os.files'? Don't know if it will give any added info, but...

    Have you tried deleting the files from the cache directory and then doing a "clear library and rescan everything"? Recently, that fixed a scan problem for me.

    I don't have scan problems.

    clear/rescan works for me whenever New Music starts failing like this, which is pretty frequently. I share your frustration.
