I use the "Other Players" plugin, and like to have it on the Home menu of the Controller. Problem is, this plugin does not have an icon, so it makes the menu look peculiar (see attached screenshot).
My ideal solution would be to eliminate the icons from this menu. Quite frankly I don't need an icon of musical notes to tell me what "Now Playing" means!
1. Can the icons be switched off?
2. If not, are they stored as files somewhere in the Controller's file system and be deleted?

Why do you use a plugin to have that menu item? On my Controller, I have a menu item "Choose Player" that has an icon, and I didn't have to install a plugin to make it appear.
If you don't have a Choose Player menu item, then you may want to check the Home Menu settings and see if it is available to be restored, as it may have been removed.Squeezebox devices: Boom, Duet, and Radio

It's not the same thing, this plugin can grab playlists from other players and the other way around, send the current playlist to another player and offer and alternative sync menu.
1. No
2. Probably but I don't know how, some may be at the server, if you succeed they may be placeholders ? Who knows, and that change would have to be applied each upgrade.--------------------------------------------------------------------

Shame. I think Logitech have dropped the ball on this. Those icons were not present on early versions of the Controller firmware (eg. the one that came with SBS 7.3).
<rant>
Does anyone genuinely believe they serve any purpose? I mean, what's the point of wasting real estate with a picture of a radio mast when the words "Internet Radio" are there right next to it? Is this interface optimised for people who can't read?

OK, I'll have a poke around to see what I can find. Perhaps a session of LUA hacking is in order.Transporter -> ATC SCM100A

A quick follow-up. I had a poke around the Jive filesystem and found the icon files in /usr/share/jive/applets/QVGAbaseSkin/images. Renaming them and rebooting the Controller did indeed remove the icons from the menus, but unfortunately the menu entries still had a bit of white space to the left, which meant that they were not aligned with the "Other Players" menu item - so the menu still looks peculiar. For the time being I've restored the icons and just moved "Other Players" to the bottom of the menu, where the lack of icon is not so aesthetically objectionable.
I suspect I may need to fish around in the LUA code to see if I can find where the icons and white space is added and remove that. But I'm a LUA novice and frankly don't have the inclination to spend too much time on this.
I've added an enhancement request in Bugzilla, if anyone feels like voting for it. http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=17913Last edited by cliveb; 2012-02-29 at 09:26. Reason: added bugzilla link
