Gapless playback no longer working properly

My Squeezebox Boom has been the main conduit for music in my home for some three years years. I have several of them throughout the house, all synced with each other, and it's been great. My server runs on OS X Lion.

However recently I have noticed a new problem. When playing back a gapless album, in particular a continuous DJ mix album, there is a noticeable transition between the tracks. It's not so much a gap, rather an unevenness in the tempo. Like the new track is slightly delayed.

This used to work great. My music library has not changed. Gapless albums that previously played back fine, now have awkward track transitions. I suspect this was introduced in a recent server software or firmware upgrade.

    * Is Logitech aware of this? Has anyone else noticed it?
    * Is a fix in the making?
    * Is it the server or the firmware?
    * What is the last version of the server or firmware that did not have this problem, and how to I revert to that version?

Is the Boom synced to something else? - I don't think synced playback can be gapless...
You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it ain't what you'd call minimal...

Hmmm. I'll have to test but I have never noticed any issues with synched players and gapless.

I've not had any issues with gapless. What kind of files FLAC, MP3 ect. ? Are your running the latest released 7.7.1 or either an older release or a beta? Have you double checked your transcoding settings? What about the crossfade settings? After that I'm not sure what it would be. But it's not a widespread problem as I've not had it or seen it mentioned anywhere around here.

Actually syncing only works robust, when songs are played gapless. Otherwise a resync is needed on each song start.

    Are you playing mp3?
In my experience the individual compression leads to very small audible glitches in gapless songs. I can only hear it via headphones though and when I listen very closely and try to detect it.
Did you know: SqueezePlayer will stream all your music to your Android device. Take your music everywhere!
Remote Control + Streaming to your iPad? Squeezebox + iPad = SqueezePad

Is there something like gapless mp3 songs? I can't really get mp3 to play completely gapless, indeed, but I thought that was an mp3 limitation?

I'm using 160-256kbps AAC for everything. I have not changed any formats or re-ripped anything recently. The very same files that worked flawlessly before, now don't. And they still work flawlessly if I play back through iTunes, or on my iPhone.

And it is not so much a glitch, but rather the beat "stumbles". The timing is off by a fraction of a second. Enough to be distracting.

We don't have gapless AAC support (in the newer players), although maybe with faad transcoding it's gapless, don't think I've tried to be honest.

MP3 should be gapless if properly encoded with LAME from a gapless source.
