Compilation tribute album listed by each artist

I have ripped many compilation/tribute type CDs to my iMac (I use iTunes, Apple Lossless) and they have appeared on LMS as one album. The last one I ripped, a tribute 2-CD album of songs of John Martyn, is showing up on LMS as 28 separate albums, each one consisting of one song by the associated artist. How do i get this to be one album, under "Various" artists? I can't play the whole album! I have to select each song separately, it's really inconvenient.

Do you use iTunes integration in LMS? If so, it sounds as though the "is a compilation" flag (or whatever it's called in iTunes) isn't set for this particular album.

You are probably right--but do you know how I can fix it? I wasn't aware I could "correct" my tags using iTunes. It just does them automatically, I have never seen any option for me to intervene.

select songs from the album, right click, select "get info", say YES to editing multiple items, click on options tab, then say "yes" to option "part of compilation", then click on OK. This adds COMPILATION tag to your files.

list albums by band

Apply will make a clear/rescan but check the results.

Otherwise, it's tags.
