Intact iTunes playlists show EMPTY on Touch

Following a recent update from SBS v7.5.2 to 7.7.1, I have had sporadic incidents where some Playlists show Empty (but they are intact and play normally through iTunes) while other Touch Playlists show the correct tracks and play normally via the Touch. This has happened three times in the last week.

In each case, I've done an "erase everything" rescan which restored the "Empty" Playlists back to normal function on the Touch.

I have made no recent changes to hardware, network, or SBS settings.

Suggestions (or perhaps a bug fix?) would be most welcome.

    Peter

    STILL having EMPTY PLAYLIST problems

I am STILL having this problem. SB Touch playlists begin to show "Empty" a day or two after the most recent SBS database scan. I have never found an Empty playlist immediately after a scan, but a day or two later more and more Empty playlists begin to appear (I have been using the "Clear Everything and Rescan" option). Playlists declared Empty by SB Touch have always played perfectly within iTunes.

Since "Clear Everything and Rescan" always fixes the problem (temporarily), the most likely scenario is that the SBS database is getting corrupted. If that's the case, why and how? And, what can I do about it?

My iTunes library resides on a 4-5 year old Seagate HD; running Apple Disk Utility Repair has never shown a problem with this drive. I'm using a 2010 mac Mini with 320Gb HD and 8Gb ram. It is hardwired (Ethernet) to the Touch. The mini is connected to the extHD by a generic USB 2.0 cable.

This problem has been such a hassle for such a long time that I'm about ready to move away from the SB Touch and go to USB--> JKenny Mk2 USB to SPDIF converter--> DAC.

    Any ideas or suggestions?

Has anyone else had this problem?

    Many thanks,
    Peter
