Because I find it pointless. If it's supposed to be cheap, and produced in small numbers (an almost inevitable consequence of lacking a screen), elevating the numbers will necessarily have to be at the expense of something else. I don't find it unlikely that making the components cheaper will have a more negative effect on sound quality than higher sampling rates can make up for.
Making a product in big numbers can allow for a lower price, not necessarily at the expense of component quality, because of the logistics, but that's a different story. Removing the screen will not allow for high production volumes, though.
If I have to choose, I'd rather have something that sounds good (and is produced in large numbers so it will be cheaper), than something with big numbers on it, (produced in small numbers so it will be more expensive). And that is a likely choice to have to make. Can't have it both ways.
Of course you're free to wish for it as much as you want, just as I am free to think that it's pointless and wishful thinking. We don't have to agree, do we?
I personally think my analogy was somewhat descriptive, but we don't have to agree on that either. Sorry if I offended anyone's sense of taste.
