    Question Using digital output

    Hi

I have a B&W Zeppelin iPod dock/speaker which has an optical mini jack AUX connector. I wish to buy a Squeezebox (mostly for internet radio and Napster streaming). I know the Squeezebox Touch has a digital out. What sort of cable do I need to connect them? Does the Squeezebox Classic have the same digital output?

    thanks

yes, both touch and SB classic have two digital outs (TOSLINK/Optical and S/PDIF coax). They both also have analog RCA outs.

the question is, why would you want to use the digital out? All Squeezeboxes (yes, even the classic) have suberb DACs that can only be found in higher-end systems. You wouldn't do your ears a favour using a mediocre DAC when there is an excellent one sitting in the device you just acquired. Just a thought.

I use the digital out because that is the only way I can get surround sound through my Squeezebox to my system. Plus, I have a higher end system.
