    ReadyNAS Duo/NV v2 (ARM)available for testing

I've got a LMS 7.7.2 build for the new ARM based ReadyNAS Duo/NV V2 set up:

    http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/?ver=7.7

It's a basic add-on which allows to install, start, stop and uninstall LMS on those devices.

    Known issues:
    - sometimes (when updating an existing installation) you'd get a failure message. Don't worry - the add-on most likely did install just fine
    - the link provided to jump to the LMS web UI sometimes doesn't work

Please give it some thorough testing and let me know your experience.

    Have fun!

    Thanks

Have only had my NV+ v2 for a week and this was the only app I was waiting for.

So far it has been working a treat even better then it work on my soon to be retired Win7 server.

Here's a scan of an almost identical music collection. Both systems are single disk (no raid etc.). (I guess you'll get the meanings of those German descriptions :-P).

    NV+ (Sparc):

    Duo v2 (ARM):

I know, the collection is slightly different. But those few albums don't make up for the difference in scan times.

Bringing up the first page of the album list in the web UI (incl. small artwork):
    NV+: 35s
    Duo v2: 9s

    Second page of artists:
    NV+: 8s
    Duo v2: 2s

Unfortunately I don't have a x86 ReadyNAS to compare with.

I'm a little curious about why Logitech is supporting new models of ReadyNAS. Are you planning on selling SB+ReadyNAS bundles again, is it a contractual obligation, or is it just a professional courtesy/favor?

TBH: I don't know. I suggested dropping the ReadyNAS builds a while ago,
as it seemed odd to support some of the worst devices on the market (the
sparc based models) officially, while ignoring the likes of QNAP, Synology
etc. At least these new models are decent devices which can compete with
    the others.

    Hello

My first message just to thank you.
You made an excellent job and this addon is fully functionnal on my squeezebox boom.

I bought a Readynas duo-v2 7 days ago, and I tought that the squeezebox center was ok... Great disappointment when I discovered that it was not the case on V2.
You save my day, and I'm very grateful !

(sorry for my poor english... not my natural language)

Just out of curiosity: are these newer models able to transcode (or at least downsample) streams without collapsing?

    Thumbs up

I want to let you know that I decided to upgrade my readynas duo v1 to nv+ v2. And I did it (also) because of this thread. I'm very glad to read that v2 is supported (even if not yet officialy). I will immediately install and test this add-on when I will receive the new NAS.

I've also recently bought a new SB Touch since I wanted to upgrade my whole source chain.

So thank you very much and please continue to support Netgear NAS.
