Hi everyone,
I have a SB Touch, an iMac with OS Lion recently installed and my music is stored locally on the Mac. I downloaded yesterday LMS v7.7.1 and installed it for the first time since the Lion upgrade. But I can't get LMS to start : when I try to launch it from System Preferences, it tries to launch during 1 second but it will not start.
The last time I had used the server was under Snow Leopard and I think it was a the previous version (Squeeze Box Server ?).
Anyone has already got the same problem ?

Tried the usual suspects? Turning off anti virus & firewalls, then stop & restart LMS? Added the LMS exceptions into both?

Thanks for your reply toby10. No antivirus, and firewall desactivated.
I don't know how to stop LMS (is it really started anyway, since it does not connect?) : actually, I can't find it in the applications file on the Mac and the only interface I get is the one via "System Preferences" ; it was the same thing with OS Snow Leopard but then it used to work and the server was automatically connected when I started the Mac.
Furthermore, I can't access to http://localhost:9000/ or to http://serverhostname:9000 (I get a message that Safari cannot connect to server) : is it linked to the fact that LMS does not work ?

Yeah, if LMS is truly not running then you cannot access it's web UI.
I don't use anything Apple, on Windows there is a little LMS icon in the system tray when LMS is running. Clicking that little icon brings up options like start, stop, open web UI, open Control Panel. How (if) this is similarly available on a Mac I have no idea.
Best guess is that something is blocking/stopping LMS from fully loading or starting on your Mac.

When you open LMS in System Preferences on Lion, you should see a button under "general" saying: "Start Server" (Or, in case it's running, "Stop Server"). When clicking that button, System preferences will throw up a message saying it must close and then re-open. When it has done that, the change should have been implimented.
Probably try and fix that part first if it isn't working for you. Once that's fixed, we can have a look to see if LMS is autostarting or not.
To be honest, on my Lion machine, it WAS the firewall that was blocking it. Is it possible you accidentally blocked the application, and THEN switched off the firewall?
It's listed not as port XYZ or LMS, but as Perl x.x.(Version number)
Just to clarify,.. there's no LMS App on the Mac,.. The sys pref pane and through the browser is all you got ;-) The Web-UI through the browser will not work if either the firewall is blocking perl OR if the server is simply not running.
From your explanation, I have the feeling LMS has simply not started, and the firewall is not to blame.Last edited by AnthonioBEL; 2012-01-23 at 02:56.

When I click on the "Start Server" button, the server starts, Perl 5.12 appears during 1 second in the "Activity Monitor" and then disappears, and System Preferences says again that the server is not running. I do not know why it cannot start : I checked again, the firewall is off.
When you ask if I could have accidentally blocked the application, could it be linked to the fact that I upgraded to Lion recently ? If I did block accidentally, how can I fix it, since the firewall is not running ?
Thanks for your advice !

Found the solution !
I got it ! I think it was linked to my upgrade and to the fact that I changed during upgrade the name of my account on the iMac : LMS was probably looking for a file or something and could not find it since the account name had changed.
So, looking in the "Advance" tab on LMS System Preferences, I simply clicked both on "Suppress preference files" and "Clean cache", and hen launched the cleaning. After that, I was able to start the server ;-)
Thanks again for your replies !
