Mac OS X Version of mp3tag

A user on the VortexBox forum alerted me to the existence of a Mac OS X version of mp3tag: http://www.mediafire.com/?6h3gy13fvalq7

It uses wineskin to run mp3tag-2.48.

I updated the app to use mp3tag-2.49b: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6229594/MP3Tag.app.zip

It seems to work fine on my Mac Pro running OS X Lion.

I hope Mac users find this useful.

EDIT (Mar 28, 2012): Mp3tag v2.50 is now available as a Mac OS X app. See post #8 in this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showpo...81&postcount=8

That seems to work well on my Macbook running Snow Leopard too. Thanks for this.

    Hi
I started to play around with setting Replay gain tags on my FLAC music collection but found the results hugely disappointing. Using Smart Gain as an option in Squeezecentre I played a selection of tagged albums. When replay gain values were calculated in setting the tags I was getting values of anything between -9db (eg Adele's '19') to +2db (for some classical).
Although I was prepared for lower volume levels (and changed the amps volume control accordingly) the resulting tracks seem utterly lifeless and the sparkle all gone.
So now I'm thinking of removing the replay gain tags and going back to standard settings.
Using the described, modified MP3 Tag facility, what's the best way of going about this for a large number of files ? I can see that using View / Ext Tags and then editing I presume I can simply remove the value under the Replay Gain entry. But this would take an age - is there a way to bulk remove the RG tags ?
    Thanks

As a starter you could just untick the gain options in sbs/lms it then they won't be used and thus can not affect playback.

Fasted way in mp3tag load up all files open the extended tags dialogue mark all rg tags for deletion press ok ?

Before any large scale tag manipulation take a backup.

I agree with mnyb. Why remove the tags. they are not used at all unless you tell the player to use them in a player setting (sbs, lms, or some other player).

Ok, this is probably a silly question but i'm new to OSX (just switched from a PC) and was wondering how I can get this running on Lion? I downloaded the file and tried to install it but when I click on the MP3tag icon it just keeps bouncing, never opening. Any help would be appreciated!

    Mp3tag v2.50 available for Mac OS X

I have created a Mac OS X version of Mp3tag v2.50, which was just recently released. You can download it here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6229594/Mp3tag-v2.50.app.zip

This app was created on OS X Lion 10.7.3 using Wineskin Winery 1.4 with the latest Wineskin Wrapper (2.5.4) and Wine Engine (WS8Wine1.5.0). I have tested it on my Mac Pro running OS X Lion 10.7.3 and it seems to work as it should.

I'd be interested in an updated version too, Ron.

Edit: I grabbed Wineskin Winery and created one myself - seems to work just fine!
