    Wink Large knob, small knob

This seems to be a recurring theme in the SBR forum. What should the small and large knob do?

In other more common physical interface a large knob (typically on the right side of a cabinet) is volume. This was true for the the large tube-radios of the 50ies and 60ies I grew up with (the large knob on the left side is tuning)
Frequently I find myself idly adjusting volume with the large knob.

As this is all in software it couldn't be to difficult to add a setting allowing the large, centered knob to do volume and the smaller to do menu selection (and something odd as resizing artwork).

( I should learn some lua, you know. Really, how hard can it be? )

I think the large knob is mainly used for the selection of menu items such as character selection when doing a search or station selection when the list can be very long. It is then easier to 'spin' the large knob to cover a large list at speed.

Isn't it the other way round? Doesn't a large knob give you slower, but finer, control, whereas a small knob gives you a faster response?

    I can't believe I actually wrote that.

    LOL.

The option to swap the functionality of the two knobs on the Radio would be interesting, but it would have to be a patch.

There's no way that Logitech would make this a "normally" configurable option, as moving functionality around goes against all good UI sense.

I think if it were to be placed in the advanced settings, along the lines of the same area where you can change button functions, that would probably be fine. Make the knobs be the last items in the list.

Settings > Advanced > Beta Features > Shortcuts...

Can't get more hidden than that, to keep your regular Joe from making the change and getting confused.

Not at all - the larger knob is much easier to spin in a controlled manner using just one finger on the outer edge. With the smaller volume control you would have to twist it in a start-stop fashion.

Agreed. Plus there is the "accelerator" feature where the longer/faster you spin the big knob the faster it navigates through very large menus & folders.
This would be awkward at best, if not impossible for the small Volume knob.

Navigation input is constant, Volume input is infrequent and usually only involves a few clicks up or down. For most usage scenarios the current design seems the most logical.
