    Weird alarm behaviour

During initial set up of my SBR at Christmas, I set the alarm for every weekday but not for the weekend and to use the CASCADE sound with increasing volume. This has been working perfectly until last Monday morning when the radio came on at alarm time LOUD and both in my earphones and the loudspeaker. When I hit the OFF button, the radio stopped but the Cascade alarm started.
I had made no changes of any sort so this is a complete mystery to me. Is such strange alarm behaviour a known fault?

It happened again this morning. The radio came on loud in both earpieces and loudspeaker - no alarm signal at all though. I suffered verbal abuse from my wife because it must have been my fault. However, I have changed nothing and the alarm settings are still correct.

i've been experiencing something similar. i have multiple alarms set in SC, one @ 6:30am, the next for 6:50. both are set to fade volume in, and to run M-F. both have worked fine for months (since i set them up). i was traveling recently and turned all alarms off. came back and turned them on, but now the 6:50 alarm does not work at all (won't come on) and the 6:30 alarm comes on at full volume. i've tried resetting them, to no avail.

    baffled.

I've noticed strange behavior too with alarms. My radio refused to accept a new second alarm.

I found that when I changed the time from 24 hour to 12 hour and then went back to set the alarms, all was good. Both alarms work now.

    Weird alarm behaviour cont.

I've also had some weird alarm issues.
The first is I have a set alarm with the sound being one of my favourite stations. What I end up getting is some canned music, certainly not what i selected. I turn off the alarm and about 30 seconds later I get another alarm with my station.

The other issue I'm getting is at the alarm time I get my selected station but it is horribly distorted. Turning off the alarm and turning the radio on clears it up

Having exactly the same problem, probably happened 3-4 times in the last weeks. This is connected to SN, not a local server.

I have my alarm set for 7:55, rather than fade the radio station in (nice and gentily) I get some booming caned music, no idea where it is coming from, but it's bloody annoying. I turn that off and then my alarm comes on.

Please Logitech, sort it out. I didn't spend £100 on something that won't even do the most simplistic of things.

Here we go again. This morning the ****ed radio came on LOUD and suddenly at alarm time blaring loud music. Needless to say, I had made no changes whatsoever and when I look at the alarm settings they are still correct.
I'm sick to death of this erratic behaviour. An alarm should at least be reliable once set.
On this basis, plus the other quirks of frequent radio drop outs requiring the set to be re-booted plus the fact of total dependency on Logitech, I could not and will not recommend the purchase of an SBR to anyone.
I really wish I had gone for a conventional Internet radio.

did you try to change the radio station of your alarm already?

Maybe the station is not reliable enough, so that the Radio rather decides to wake you up (with the integrated tune) instead of playing just silence which wouldn't wake you up?

Or are you sure, that your internet service provider (or your router) is not shutting down the internet connection, which might introduce a delay for the very first stream that wants to play on a particular day?
Did you know: SqueezePlayer will stream all your music to your Android device. Take your music everywhere!
Remote Control + Streaming to your iPad? Squeezebox + iPad = SqueezePad

I don't use radio for the alarm. It's set to use one of the sound effects and to come on at the same time every weekday with no alarm at the weekends. I go to sleep listening to a phone-in station and have the 'sleep' function set to turn the SBR off after 90 minutes. Most days the alarm works correctly and builds up from a low level. I'm usually awake very quickly and turn the alarm off before it wakes my wife. However, several times now, it has done this annoying burst of loud music at high volume, even though the station it is set to is talk only and the volume is turned don low for earphones..

Yepp happened to me today as well.. maybe it happens to everybody on the same day :-) But seriously, it's bloody annoying. I reckon the frequency of this occuring has increased, it seems to be every other day I wake up to this damned music.

The annoying thing is, I know that there's some sort of logic in the SBR which says "ok, I haven't got a connection to the internet and there's an alarm coming up so I'll use the onboard alarm" - or thereabouts ;-) So why the booming music? - can they not choose something a little easier on the ear... oh and I don't know, maybe fade it in. Like some birds tweeting or something... I'm sure my Boom had that option.

So how do I escalate this? - book a bug ticket in? I'd seriously send the thing back to Logitech if I could, but it's 2 months old... what are the chances?

    Matt.
