I just added my first Squeezebox Controller to my set-up.
Couple of things - that might be bugs.
I already have a SqueezeNetwork account - so when prompted at the Controller to join SQN I selected the option to say that I already have an account.
I was then prompted to provide my email address - which I did.
At the end I selected the ">" but there is no visual feedback that it was validated/accepted.
Pressing the back arrow simply reversed through the text.
I think that the only way that I could get out of the menu was to hit the Home button.
When I tried to connect to SQN from Controller (having enabled the Beta function to make SQC a player) I was given a PIN at SQC and told to enter it at SQN. The PIN disappeared before I memorised it ... but when I went to SQN I found that the Controller had managed to get associated with my account and there were no prompts from SQN to enter a PIN. Does this mean that this is a legacy step that is no longer required and should be removed from the set-up process to make it easier for first time users (OK - there won't be many more first time users of SQC but does same thing happen with Squeezebox Radio?).

I have 2*SB2 - this is my first Controller.
The firmware upgraded itself to "7.7.1 r9557" as soon as I connected it to the home network.
Could the expectation of needing a PIN been something left hanging around from the old firmware - and firmware update did not remove a file which now makes the current firmware occasionally prompt with PIN?Paul Webster

it migth not hurt to factory reset it after such a big upgrade, it could easilly had fw from 2008 loaded :-/
It is a general problem with squeezebox stock , they never upgrade items in storage so they are completely outdated, sometimes so outdated that it's a cath22 to get them running.
Otherwise you seems to have the current fw loaded now.--------------------------------------------------------------------
