I think the reason why the cleaning is failing is that SBS is using a new folder structure in the newer versions?

I don’t use that clean DB program when I upgrade. I simply install the new version over the old one and that works just fine in most cases. Michael is going to rewrite the wiki procedure for ReadyNAS devices.

Having said that, I don’t think that Runaldo’s issues are related to the clean DB application. I think he experienced two different issues (DB locked and scanner failing).

No, my scan is also beeing "killed" in the process.
When I point my SBS on my computer to the NAS disk and scan the files that way it works perfect.
But trying to scan the same files using SBS on my DUO nas it stoppes everytime.

Just read your post on the Logitech forum. From the responses I get the feeling that Cat doesn’t really know what is going on. It is a strange problem but I believe it is best to try and test one thing at the time.
You also seem to have issues with a locked database and later on scanner problems. The scanner issues seem to happen when it’s trying to remove deleted or moved songs from the database. It is possible that this is a result of a corupted database due to the install / remove of different SBS / LMS versions. It is also a coincidence that you and Runaldo use mp3 files and experience issues like these.
Probably the best way forward now is to do the same steps as suggested to Runaldo. There are a few reboot steps in there just to be sure that all services are stopped:
1. Disable the SBS service in FrontView
2. Reboot the NAS. Make sure SBS is still not running when the NAS is rebooted. If you have SSH access to your NAS you could check if there are no squeezeboxserver or sql lite processes active.
3. Uninstall SBS
4. Reboot the NAS
5. Install LMS 7.7.1 (without running the Clean DB thing.)
6. Disbale DLNA plugin and restart LMS (LMS should prompt you to restart the service). Since you are using a SPARC based NAS it is also a good idea to disable all other plugins you don’t need. That will free up resources on the NAS.
7. Set Scanner logging to debug
When everything is configured you can try the scan your library again.
If it still goes wrong the post your scanner log file here.

Yes you need to restart the LMS service when you enable or disable plugins.
This id due to the fact that plugins are started when LMS is started.
As soon as you’ll press aply LMS will ask you to restart.
