So, after almost 2 days of constant connection the radio decides to drop off for no apparent reason. Changing channel on router gets it back on only for it to fall off again. Traffic no different in neighbourhood.

If a new router would solve this I would be happy to spend the money, but not sure it would.

All other devices, SB3, boom and touch remain rock solid.

Apart from firmware updates to the radio I was trying to think what else I have changed and remembered that I upgraded my wireless G network to WPA2 about 1 month ago when I had a rather large unexpected download on my network. Last night I went back to WPA encryption to see if this returns the unit to zero network issues.

For the record I have a Netgear WNDR 3700 (or somethink close) and run a dual wireless network with a G band and N band. I did a check of the channel, checked all others and moved to a separate channel - made no difference.

Will report back to see if WPA makes a difference - what encryption do other run?

I will say getting the unit to change down to a lower level of encryption and allow a new key to be entered is a right pain.

Does anyone want to try a zero encryption system to see if that makes a difference?

    I use WPA2-AES, no problems.

I have two Radios in the same bedroom, one on each side of the bed. Both on Wireless connected to my Netgear WNDR4500 Wireless router. One Radio works flawlessly. The other exhibits the same behaviours reported in this post with the red wireless icon appearing after a number of hours of being connected. Both devices show 100% signal when connected, they are no more than 20 feet from the router. I am running WPA2-PSK [AES] encryption.

When I get the Red Wireless Icon on the problem Radio and it cannot see the wireless network I go to my Router and it shows the Radio as a connected device !!! But the Radio says it is not connected. If I power down the radio and power it up again it connects and runs for a couple of hours but then the red wireless icon appears. I assign static addresses to all my Squeezebox devices also.

Very frustrating issue. I will look again tonight to ensure the setup on both Radios are identical, if they are I am inclined to junk the problem radio as it can only be a hardware issue I think (hopefully it is under warranty, I only bought it in May 2011 I think). I will let you know once I get home tonight.

Good to know I am not the only suffering this, good also that you have a 'control' radio that works so we can discard wifi network issues.

I was looking at buying the WNDR4500 as a possible solution to my problems but it seems that doesn't actually solve it!

Last night I had the radio connected just 4 inches in front of the router but then it dropped the connection and wouldn't re-connect without a restart. Same issue as yours in that signal is high and router shows it as connected but no joy.

Last night a set my old home hub 2 router up as a wireless access point and connected the radio and only the radio to that.

It worked fine and alarm was good this morning, will see how we go tonight.

    Wonder Boy,

Are you still having this problem now that you are using an old home hub 2 router as a wireless access point?

I confirmed that both my Radios have the same configuration last night and this morning the problem radio was showing the red wireless icon and the symptoms outlined above in this post. I will do a factory reset on it tonight and if that doesnt help I guess I will need to call tech support.

I was going to leave it another 24 hours to report. Bur since I set up the home hub 2 as a slave WAP the connection has been perfect. The hub is about the same distance from the radio if a little higher up and has to go through an extra wall. The sig strength is 90% plus every time I check.

Alarm has triggered two mornings (my server comes on 10 mins before) and radio has behaved perfectly.

So,can I conclude HH3 and radio are incompatible, or radio doesn't like any other wifi devices sharing it's signal?

I think there are other reports of radio-homehub issues - not other wifi devices. At any one moment I have about 4 or 5 other devices on wifi - no issues.
    1 Touch - Muse M50 EX TPA3123 T-Amp Mini - Acoustics Q10 speakers - 2 duff ears - purfek!
    1 Logitech Radio + remote - purfek!
Raspberry Pi + Squeezeplug LMS + Squeezelite - Logitech Mini Boombox speaker - super purfek!
    Cubieboard + Fedora 18 + LMS 7.8 + Squeezelite - Soundwave SW100 bluetooth speaker - perfek plus!

Yes, I would guess though that the BT home hub is one of the most, if not the most common router in the UK so this could be coincidence and nothing more.

The most annoying thing for me was that my radio was the only device affected, my sb3, booms and touch were all fine.

72 hours connected and working fine with slave WAP!!
