    Pogoplug series 4 and DLNA

I was very intrigued to read about the new Pogoplug series 4, a DLNA device. Are Squeezebox devices such as the Touch and Radio compatible with DLNA? Will I be able to use the Pogoplug series 4 as a server that is usable by Squeezeebox devices?

    Short answer: No.

Long answer: The Squeezebox devices are not DIRECTLY DLNA-compatible. Through the use of Logitech Media Server, the ability to use Squeezebox devices as DLNA players is possible, though this capability is currently considered to be a beta feature (which I haven't personally tried using yet, so I can't comment on if it works or not).

However, Logitech Media Server can also act as a DLNA server, so rather than add another device to your network, you could just install the latest version of LMS and have it serve up your music to both your Squeezebox devices as well as your other DLNA-compliant devices.
Squeezebox devices: Boom, Duet, and Radio
DLNA devices: Sony Bravia TV, WMP11 on Win7
LMS 7.7.2 running on a ReadyNAS Ultra 2 Plus

    DLNA server

Thanks for your input. My hope is to attach a USB drive with all my music to the Proplug and connect it to my router to share all my wireless music devices in my home. I don't want to have a computer or dedicated server running all the time.

The question should be if they support this particular model, as the PPV4 & Mobile are essentially the same board.
