Album art

Hi there, first post, please be gentle with me...
I have a squeezebox server running on Linux and a few clients on various PCs and a joggler. One little problem I have is that the album art is not always displayed. I usually have a .jpg image in the music folder called art.jpg or something like that. How does the server go about dealing with these images? Do they have to be a certain size /format name?
