Also - it sort of seems like the controller maintains the connection to mysqueezebox.com, since it says it can ping it fine and it has the IP address... but the receiver just stays in blue light mode and will not respond... i'm not sure how those 2 devices interact though, or exactly what can't connect to the d*)) mysqueezebox.com. the controller also says i'm registered, lists my receiver, lists my network, as i said before it says everything is fine until i try to play something or to select a player...in which i get the deadly "can not connect to mysqueezebox.com"... i'm probably boring everybody to tears. is there tech support for this thing??? thanks embee

In general there is no interaction controller reciever almost everything is routed trough trough the server except setup and maybe sbc can see sbr on the local net. (server is mysb.com or your local server )
Are your reciever conected to mysqueezebox.com ? or is registred and unconected .
If it is conected can you play radio with the remote on the website ?
Do you have a local server is conected there ? (it's either one local or mysqueezebox.com ).
Is the reciever atached to the network at all ? can you see it some stats in the router can you ping the player if you know it's ip .
it seems lost in space ?
The controller can show some status about itself and players if it finds them .
Can you see what ip number it gets .
I'll guess the official support would have you reset the reciever and possibly also the controller and perform a new setup :-/
Have you done the simplest thing pulled the plug and rebooted it ?
I think you should contact support .
One of the bad design decission regarding the reciever is it's simple UI a led and a button (no built in web-interface) ? You cant get direct information from it only second hand info from the rest of the system on what it thinks the receiver is doing.--------------------------------------------------------------------

ok.. just an update for people who have had this problem. once i changed the IPs to static, I did NOT have the problem with connecting to mysqueezebox.com. one puzzling aspect though -- the light on the receiver still goes to blue (which usually gave me the error).. but it keeps on playing??? i thought blue meant it could NOT connect to the server???
a second problem i was having was that the internet radio would just go out randomly (without the problem connecting to mysqueezebox.com error)... turned out this was due to my 2wire modem and another thread told me how to change the settings so that would not happen...
so... for a good 2 weeks: no error connecting to mysqueezebox.com and no drops. apparently -- all router related issues...
thanks, embee

Once the player gets the stream and starts playing it the player really doesn't need the server, if that is all it is doing. So it could play that stream for days without any server connection (blue).
But as soon as you try to do anything with the player that requires the server (like navigating away from that stream) it will indeed stop playing and will ask you to connect to the server.

Hey, just joined (and got a Duet. I had no problem for the first 2 weeks and then this has started. I try to reboot and all I get is a flicking red light. The remote can detect the player but that's it. How do you make the IP static?
Thanks!

YIKES... the problem is BACKKKKK... it was fine for 2 months - SB never lost the connection. then, it all started up again...light goes blue on SB and i get the message: CAN NOT CONNECT TO MYSQUEEZEBOX.COM... it just happens. the only SURE way to solve it is to unplug the SB, unplug the modem, plug the modem in, plug the SB in -- this ALWAYS fixes it ... but WHY????? and, i can't do this everyday!!!!!
i had thought my router/modem was dropping the connection, but i never seem to lose any connection to the wireless on my computer...just the SB that seems to be unable to CONNECT TO MYSQUEEZEBOX.COM. that message makes me INSANE.... thanks for listening,,, embee
ps: to Canedbutable: to set the static IPs, i accessed my router settings on the internet. i am using an ATT 2wire modem, and can change settings by going to an internet page....but, like i said, now i don't know if this will fix the problem...

I've got a 2wire at&t gateway, too, and had nearly given up on the Receiver, since it went blue so often. I had to open TCP and UDP ports 3483 to get the Receiver to work with it in the first place, and giving it a static IP seemed to help with the blue light, but not much. Finally, for a different reason, I had to move the gateway to another room, about 8-10 feet closer to the receiver. It's worked perfectly ever since! Any chance you can get your gateway and Receiver closer together?

hi kc5f: i originally had the 2wire and receiver about 15 ft from each other, but had all the blue light problems. i will move it back again (as I have changed settings on the 2wire since then) to test this, but I'm not that hopeful. Looked again through the forum for 2wire issues and I guess there are a bunch. I found this comment from you below on LaRon's firewall fix -- are you saying that in the end making these changes DID NOT fix the problem? Should I change all the firewall stuff to the receiver on my 2wire or not? Also, I currently have WEP not WPA or WPA2 encryption set - should i change that do you think?? the thing that puzzles me is -- why was it fine for last 2 months and now everyday it goes BLUE??? any thoughts appreciated....
-----------------------
It was the receiver that wouldn't connect, for me. I tried the settings in this bug report http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=11020 but it took switching to WPA-PSK for everything to come together, and now I'm once again listening to my favorite online music! Thanks, Craig!
And for anyone using LaRon's information: After I got everything working I realized he has us connecting to mysqueezebox.com through the controller. I turned it off and the receiver lost its feed! So I changed the firewall to add the port exceptions to the receiver instead of the controller and I'm now able to listen with the controller turned off, too.
