I am afraid so, it is so frustrating... I guess I just have to live with the fact that some few very rare companies aren't really open to their employees putting up their own stuff in the offices.

But I am looking into the possibility of streaming my own music to my phone, over 3G...

    Go figure.
The Logitech Revue is dead. So where does that leave the Squeezebox product line, and what does this mean for 7.7? Lots of work, for basically no benefit. Probably should be thrown away and the codeline reverted to 7.6

Some people seem to like the option of DLNA/UpNP for sending audio to non SB players. So thats a plus of 7.7 for some. I'm not interested in that as I have SB players everywhere. But I can see why others might like this.

Or SqueezePlayer + SqueezeCommander, wen the Squeezeboxserver is setup already.
Did you know: SqueezePlayer will stream all your music to your Android device. Take your music everywhere!
Remote Control + Streaming to your iPad? Squeezebox + iPad = SqueezePad

Yes, iSub looks interesting but this is more in line with my thinking. I want to keep as much of the SBS functionality as possible, as is...

I run SBS on Windows Home Server which itself runs as a DLNA server, and my particular product (RipNAS) came with Asset UPnP software installed (which I don't run). So if I install 7.7 I'd have 3 DLNA servers available to me.

Does anyone run SBS on a machine where the operating system itself isn't DLNA server capable? It seems like duplicated functionality to me.

I guess as it stands at the moment, the benefit of 7.7 over the others is that you only need one server to keep track of your music library (handling both your SB's and any DLNA devices).

But the files are all sat on my Windows Home Server which is a DLNA server. They're "kept track of" by the WHS DLNA server just the same as SBS keeps track of them for Squeezeboxes. They don't need much keeping track of anyway, they just sit there as files that can be played. I'm struggling to see the benefit you are claiming.

Sure, if you seldom add CD's or do changes in the database, there isn't much to keep track of. And if WHS handles everything else that is DLNA related for you then there is not much value add that yet another DLNA server brings, I agree to that!

But for those who don't use Windows Media Server, like NASes and Linux servers, and use LMS as their prime server for music, adding another Music device that is DLNA enabled does not require a different server. Once a library scan is complete, you know that you have access to the music library across your platforms.

Just to be clear, I don't think your question is irrelevant, rather the opposite, since the "market place" for DLNA servers is getting crowded. And the value add that I can see is the fact that I can keep using the server I trust with my music, also for other devices than the SB's.
