    OK, after checking my source, a post at DIYaudio explaining how Sigma-Delta DAC works (http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/digit...-dac-work.html), I see where is my confusion over here. The article is assimilating S/D DAC to pulse width/pulse density modulation and tells:

    The Burr Brown PCM1738 operates it's core at 64 times Fs and has what amounts to a 7 Bit equivalent Multilevel Modulator, while the Cirrus CS43122 "SOTA" DAC has what amounts to a 6-Bit Multilevel DAC section with the modulator core operating at 128 times Fs (for 48Khz or lower Fs), both yielding 13 Bit effective resultion before noiseshaping.
    After noiseshaping, such DACs might be yielding a resolution higher than 16 bits. Sorry for the misinterpretation.

    But this article stressed also that the pulse modulation nature of S/D DACs makes them sensitive to jitter and PSU stability.

    When you read on DAC reviews that the typical output resolution of a Sigma-Delta DAC is around 12-14 bits at most for 16 bits input resolution and 19-20 bits for 24 bits resolution, I am wondering where the residual error/noise signal comes from even if the input is bit perfect. That means for me, that a DAC output is not totally immune to (input) noise of any kind (not only jitter but also EMC/RFI, distortion of input signal,...).
    Apparently you missed the part where I did suggest to isolate his server from the touch with a wireless bridge. If a PC is injecting crap on the the Ethernet network, changing priorities and killing processes isn't going to stop it from happening, it's hardware related. Find a way to disconnect it, a dedicated wireless bridge is a perfect way to do that. Though the bridge on the touch side might also inject noise.

    based on pro audio profile, but with increased background priority and much higher clock rate. Wasapi uses pro audio, so here you have settings better than wasapi and all for free, that's if you can be arsed to try it.

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Multimedia\SystemProfile\Tasks\A udio]
    "Scheduling Category"="High"
    "SFIO Priority"="Normal"
    "Background Only"="True"
    "Priority"=dword:0000001a
    "Clock Rate"=dword:00000064
    "GPU Priority"=dword:00000008
    "Affinity"=dword:00000000
    "BackgroundPriority"=dword:0000001a

    the settings for non binary readers are high, normal, true, 26, 100, 8, all, 26 respectively

    the sound is now officially awesome, this is without fidelizer running.

    here is the dos batch file listing for setting tt -k

    C:\"Program Files (x86)"\WinSCP\WinSCP.exe /console /command "option batch abort" "open root@169.254.161.36" "call tt -k"

    so that's it, I am out of ideas, I have proposed changes end to end and you should now have a world class music player, if you were following along.

    one last tweak for me is to take the xlr outputs from the dac1 into my amp, ie xlr to rca, apparently this is very effective.
    of course the TT -k should have been

    C:\"Program Files (x86)"\WinSCP\WinSCP.exe /console /command "open root@169.254.161.36" "call tt -k" "exit"

    Unfortunately I decide with my ears so cannot contribute to your navel gazing. Just as you can't contribute to the effectiveness of these mods without trying them, peer review I think they call it in scientific circles.

    Do Fidelizer need to be started even after altering these registry values?

    [edit] GOT IT!...."SBGK worte: ...the sound is now officially awesome, this is without fidelizer running."

    CAN SOMEONE SEND ME THE DEFAULT VALUES FOR THE ABOVE KEYS IN WINDOWS 7. The above setting makes the sound sharp compared to using Fidelizer.

    Sadly, your superiority complex has alienated a lot on here, and despite your recent h/w mods, it's baffling why they are still not enough and you are venturing into "propellor head" territory. (magnets on ethernet cable - You are kidding right?)

    Great leader of men, thanks for all the hype, smoke and mirrors - it was fun while it lasted.

    Ultimately, for all the promise, I think you'll agree you ended up following with the rest of the flock.

    The DIY Audio forum would, I'm sure welcome you with open arms and a free lifetime membership... Can you perhaps take your alter ego Mennace & that fruitcake MCR with you too?

    Ciao.
    My, my, so much hatred. You are one sad, sorry individual. I'm not sure at this point whether you're a veritable psychopath or a sociopath (or both)? Whatever the case, I sincerely hope that whatever your god or avatar happens to be, he'll have mercy on your soul.

    What causes the "chipmunk" effect on some radio stations?
