New feature "Automatically detect changes" in 7.6.2 is missing in 7.7.0

In version 7.6.x a new very anticipated feature was introduced:
Server Settings - Advanced - Performance:

    -Automatically detect changes
"Squeezebox Server can watch your music folder and automatically detect changes. New and changed files should appear in your library within several minutes."

In beta 7.7.0 this feature is missing. Does it mean it is discarded?

It really never worked properly in windows, did they not make that setting invisible in the windows version ?

They migth have removed it completely, I'm not at home rigth now can't check it out ? Wonder how it works together with pictures and videos ?

Sorry, forgot to mention. I'm using the Linux Debian packages.
The feature actually works very well in my setup.

It's probably going to come back at some time, found this in the svn log:

Description: disable AutoRescan for all but SqueezeOS. It should be implemented in Media::Scan.

I imagine the added complexities of 7.7's scanning queue either broke auto-rescan or made it difficult to re-implement.
