Does anyone know of a place selling new-old-stock units? I don't want a Touch, and the used units I have seen are either abused and/or overpriced. I figure there must be some lying in a warehouse somewhere...

Looking for Squeezebox 2 or 3

It is extremely unlikely that there are any lying in a warehouse somewhere. First, the SB3 came out only 5-6 months after the SB2. At the time Slim Devices marked down the SB2 to clear out stock, and I expect they succeeded. Second, the release of the Touch (the successor to the SB3) was very delayed because of it took much longer than planned to sort out some software issues. Production of the SB3 ceased long before the Touch ever made it to market. So again, there was plenty of time to run down stocks, even if some people held off on buying an SB3 because they were waiting for the Touch.
Your best bets for finding an SB2 or SB3 are on the used market, such as eBay or Audiogon. Or maybe craigslist or its local equivalent where you are. I'm not sure what you consider "overpriced", but in general SBs hold their value very well, so you should not be surprised to pay US$200, or even $300, for a second-hand SB2 or SB3.

Thanks for the information; I suppose I will have to keep looking.
I would consider $300 overpriced, even for a NOS unit, given that a brand new Touch sells for just over $200.00 (sometimes even less than $200.00). I certainly wouldn't pay $200.00 for a well-used, scuffed and/or cracked SB2 or SB3 when I could buy a Touch brand new for the same price.

Scuffed and cracked
it sits there and you piont the remote at it gets a touch when you dust the hifi rack, what are people doing ? mine looks just fine .
I'm not selling mine, the price situation may be for the same reason i'm not selling mine I think it is a design classic and a collectible especially an original slimdevices branded one.
But it was popular to modify it, these units are often as you say worthless cracked and scuffed and sometimes actually not as god as an unmodified one
Random part swapping based on hearsay on webforums is no way to design electronics...
Beware of some old store demo units, that can not be updated to the "real" firmware--------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't know why you're under the impression that they're selling for a premium. Here are some SB3s for $130 (ea) delivered:

Exactly! It just doesn't make sense. Some look as though they have been lugged around in a backpack loaded with rocks.
Thanks for the advice! But it was popular to modify it, these units are often as you say worthless cracked and scuffed and sometimes actually not as god as an unmodified one

That seller has posted quite a few for sale, and they are reasonable priced. Only problem is that I reside in Canada ("Sorry No International or Canadian Orders") and I'd be a little hesitant because the descriptions state: "Condition: Please note these are used units and may show light signs of wear including scuffs or scratches or small dings in metal faceplate, but have been fully tested and are fully operational great units.". I wouldn't mind some light scratches from dusting, but dings in the faceplate and/or more serious scratching would be disappointing.
Some SB3 units in excellent condition have been selling for $80 - $130 on the 'bay (and one SB2 with scuffs and no remote actually sold for $12), so I'll keep me eyes open for units in excellent condition (preferably ones from sellers that will ship to Canada).

I guess I don't understand why you wouldn't buy a new Touch for under $200 (wherever and whenever it was you saw that). It's not as if you are forced to use the touchscreen. The Touch's audio quality is better, it supports hi-res tracks, and is likely to be supported for longer.
The only dimension I can think of in which the SB2 or SB3 surpasses the Touch is the visibility of the screen from a distance, and especially distances greater than 3m / 10 feet (your eyesight may vary). And the shorter form factor of the SB2 is better in some installations than either the SB3 or Touch.

Screen visibility from a distance is the primary reason, and since I also have no use for a touch screen, I would rather save a bit of cash and get the model that better suits my needs for less money. On the other hand, $209.00 direct from Logitech for a Touch (or less from other online sources) is a good deal if the audio quality is better; I didn't realize that aspect had been improved. I had a chance to get one of those Logitech 50% off coupons just the other day, which would have made the Touch only $105. Argh.

yes, many folks (that know more about this than me) agree that both the digital out and analog out of the TOUCH is improved over the SB3. And one can put the TOUCH in a mode that has oversize fonts, so you can probably overcome the visibility issue as well. And if nothing else, the TOUCH will natively handle AAC files and 96/24 files.
